History

[edit]

AAFT was founded in 1993 by Sandeep Marwah.[4][5] It is located in Noida Film City, Uttar Pradesh, alongside the film studio Marwah Studios.

In 2018, Sandeep Marwah’s sons, Akshay and Mohit Marwah, co-founded the affiliated AAFT University in Raipur, India.[6][7] AAFT University formed partnerships with the USC School of Cinematic Arts and the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and offered classes similar to its predecessor in Uttar Pradesh.[7] AAFT University is recognised as a university by the University Grants Commission.[8][9]

In 2021, Mohit and Akshay Marwah launched the affiliated edtech platform AAFT Online.[10][11]

AAFT has partnerships with Budapest Film School,[12] the USC School of Cinematic Arts,[13] the University of Cape Town,[13] and the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television.[13]

Academics

[edit]

AAFT is primarily a film and performing arts school.[14][15] In addition to cinema, AAFT offers courses in media-related subjects such as music, photography, journalism and mass communication, and fashion design.[16][17]

AAFT Online has offered many of the same courses as the main AAFT curriculum, such as media, journalism, cinema, and performing arts.[18] AAFT Online has also offered courses in retail management[19][20] and healthcare.[21]

AAFT has provided scholarships to international students from Asia and Africa.[15]
