Azersu Office Tower is a high-rise building in Baku. Located on Heydar Aliyev Avenue, the building houses the headquarters of the national operator of water resources of Azerbaijan - Azersu Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC).[1].
Background
[edit]Having outgrown the original headquarters on Moscow Avenue, a new building was planned on Heydar Aliyev Avenue. [2] It is located next to the SOCAR Tower, a modern high-rise office building.
Project
[edit]A tender was held among architectural firms to select the design of the new office building for Azersu OJSC. On August 9, 2012, the Korean company Heerim Architects won the tender.
On March 15, 2013, Halla E & C, was selected as the developer. At the same time, Heerim Architects was the construction manager. Construction started in November 2013.
Architecture and Engineering
[edit]The building is shaped of a drop of water to reflect the company's main activity and the proximity of the Caspian Sea.[1]
With a seismicity similar to California and with wind speeds exceeding that of NYC, special attention was paid to achieving the architects’ vision while efficiently resisting the demanding loads on the building.[2]
