FileCloud

FileCloud is an Enterprise[1] File Sharing and Storage[2] Solution or EFSS[3] used by organizations to share, sync, back up, and collaborate on files. The company was co founded by Madhan Kanagavel and Manoj Mohandas in 2016 under the name CodeLathe Technologies[4]. In 2021, after a $30 million Series A led by Savant Growth Fund from DevSavant Group, Ray Downes was named as CEO. FileCloud has various regional headquarters, including Ireland[5], UAE, Saudi Arabia[6] and New York.

The platform focuses on meeting regulatory requirements, ensuring data governance, preventing data breaches, managing document retention, and protecting digital content through rights management. Its goal is to help businesses handle their files securely and stay compliant with industry standards.

History

FileCloud was launched by CodeLathe Technologies in 2012 and operates from its headquarters in Austin, Texas. The company provides secure alternatives to mainstream file sharing and cloud storage solutions. Over the years, FileCloud has developed a range of deployment options, on-premises, hybrid, and fully cloud-based and the solution is used by industries such as construction[7], healthcare, education, government, and more.

In May 2024, FileCloud, announced the acquisition of Signority, a company recognized for in e-signature technology and automated document workflows. The acquisition of Signority in 2024 marked a significant milestone for FileCloud, as it expanded its product lineup to include native e-signature capabilities and automated document workflows. The acquisition[8], announced May 23  2024, emphasized SOC 2 and CSA STAR compliance.

FileCloud Server is a self-managed platform that gives organizations control over their file storage environment, suitable for businesses requiring on-premises infrastructure and strict data ownership.[9] FileCloud Online is a cloud-hosted solution designed for organizations that require the flexibility of secure file sharing, synchronization, and access across devices without the need to maintain their own hardware.[10] After acquiring Signority[11] in May 2024, FileCloud integrated e-signature and document workflow automation tools into its platform to streamline document management processes
