| Submission declined on 28 December 2025 by Cabrils (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Comment: Well done on creating the draft, and it may potentially meet the relevant requirements (including WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO, WP:NCREATIVE, WP:NPROF) but presently it is not clear that it does. As you may know, Wikipedia's basic requirement for entry is that the subject is notable. Essentially subjects are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject. To properly create such a draft page, please see the articles ‘Your First Article’, ‘Referencing for Beginners’ and ‘Easier Referencing for Beginners’. In short, "notability" requires reliable sources about the subject, rather than by the subject. Please note that some of the references would appear to be from sources that are NOT considered reliable for establishing notability and should be removed (including blogs, company websites, press releases, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Spotify, Wikipedia etc). Additionally, the draft tends to read too much like a promotional CV or advertorial (see WP:PROMO and WP:EXCESSDETAIL), which Wikipedia is not. Also, if you have any connection to the subject, including being paid or being the subject, you must declare that on your Talk page (to see instructions on how to do this please see WP:COI and/or WP:PAID). In instances of a conflict of interest, the review of the page needs to be handled with care, mindful of the higher bar set by pages produced in circumstances of such a conflict. Such pages typically may read too much like a promotional CV or advertorial (see WP:PROMO), which Wikipedia is not; and/or contain prose that is not of a standard appropriate for an encyclopaedia (also see WP:PEACOCK and WP:NPV). Please familiarise yourself with these pages before amending the draft. If you feel you can meet these requirements, then please make the necessary amendments before resubmitting the page.It would help our volunteer reviewers by identifying, on the draft's talk page, the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject. It would also be helpful if you could please identify with specificity, exactly which criteria you believe the page meets (eg "I think the page now meets WP:NCREATIVE criteria #3, because XXXXX"). Once you have implemented these suggestions, you may also wish to leave a note for me on my talk page, including the name of the draft page, and I would be happy to reassess. As I said, I do think this draft has potential so please do persevere. Cabrils (talk) 01:28, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
Gabriel Jason Dean (born December 12, 1979) is an American playwright, screenwriter, and professor. Select plays include Rift[1], Heartland[2], Terminus[3], Qualities of Starlight[4], Entangled (co-written with Charly Evon Simpson)[5], and The Transition of Doodle Pequeño[6]. His work has been produced Off-Broadway, regionally, and internationally[7].
EARLY LIFE & EDUCATION
[edit]Dean was born in Dalton, GA in 1979 and raised in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains in the nearby town of Chatsworth, GA. Dean has detailed the cognitive dissonance he experienced as a child when witnessing his family and community’s professed Christian values juxtaposed by their racist beliefs and actions and that dissonance has become a major part of his oeuvre[8].
Dean often writes from his own life;[9] most notably, in Rift, a two-hander inspired by Dean’s relationship with his estranged, incarcerated white supremacist brother[10], which chronicles the difficulties of familial reconciliation amidst opposing ideologies.[11] Dean also pulls from family history in Terminus which, through a Southern Gothic lens, contends with the American legacy of racial violence and segregation.[12] Dean has noted that he is primarily interested in narratives of reparation, how love and empathy play a part in theatre and, ultimately, social justice.[13]
Dean studied Creative Writing at Oglethorpe University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2003. He then went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree focusing on Playwriting and Poetry from The University of Texas at Austin’s Michener Center for Writers in 2012[14].
CAREER
[edit]Dean’s work has been produced and developed widely at notable theatres such as New York Theatre Workshop[15], Manhattan Theatre Club[16], McCarter Theatre[17], Cherry Lane Theatre[18], The Flea[19], The Kennedy Center[20], Traverse Theatre[21], 59E59[22], The Amoralists[23], Geva Theatre Center[24], Luna Stage[25], Amphibian Stages[26], PlayPenn[27], Interact Theatre[28], The Playwrights’ Center[29], The VORTEX[30], Theatre [502][31], Aurora Theatre[32], Dallas Children’s Theatre[33], Source Festival[34], and Essential Theatre[35]
From 2014-15, Dean was a Hodder Fellow at Princeton University[36], and he received the Dramatist’s Guild Fellowship in 2013[37]. He was a finalist for the Humanitas New Voices TV Fellowship in 2017[38] and has received grants from the Venturous Theatre Fund[39] and the Ford Foundation[40]. Dean is an alum of The Civilians R&D Group[41], an Affiliated Writer at The Playwrights’ Center[29], and a Usual Suspect at New York Theatre Workshop[15]. He is currently an Assistant Professor of English Literatures and Writing & Theatre at Muhlenberg College[42] where he teaches Playwriting, Screenwriting, and Dramaturgy.
