Hamid Reza Mahboudi (born 1972, Kazeroun, Iran) is an Iranian applied linguist, researcher, and assistant professor specializing in English language teaching (ELT), culture in language education, and computer-assisted language learning (CALL). He is affiliated with the Zand Institute of Higher Education in Shiraz, Iran.
Early life and education
[edit]Hamid Reza Mahboudi was born in 1972 in Kazeroun, Iran. He completed his elementary and secondary education in Kazeroun and initially studied mathematics and physics, earning a high school diploma in that field. He was later admitted to the University of Tabriz, where he began his undergraduate studies in English Language and Literature. He subsequently transferred to the University of Shiraz, where he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree, graduating with first rank.
Mahboudi pursued graduate studies in English Language Teaching at Allameh Tabatabaei University, where he earned his Master of Arts degree. He later completed his Ph.D. in English Language Teaching at the University of Tabriz.
Academic career
[edit]Alongside his graduate studies, Mahboudi worked with several academic and professional institutions, including the Kish Language Institute, the Aviation Industries Organization, the College of Foreign Relations, and branches of Islamic Azad University.
Following the commencement of his doctoral studies, he served as a full-time faculty member at the Rabbi Rashid Institute of Higher Education. In 2021, he joined the Zand Institute of Higher Education in Shiraz, where he has since been working as a researcher and assistant professor. He has also served as Head of the English Department at the institution.
Research interests
[edit]Mahboudi’s research focuses on culture in English language teaching, computer-assisted language learning, applied linguistics, and the integration of technology in language education.
