John J. Maalouf is an American lawyer who is a senior partner at Maalouf Ashford & Talbot, LLP.[1] His main areas of practice include international trade and finance law, international arbitration, corporate bankruptcy, business litigation, and intellectual property law.[2]
Early life and education
[edit]Maalouf is of Lebanese descent. He earned a Bachelor of Science in economics from Boston University in 1990.[3] He then obtained a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University School of Law in 1993 and an LL.M. in international banking and financial services law from Boston University School of Law in 1994. While in law school, Maalouf received the American Jurisprudence Award.[4]
Career
[edit]Maalouf began his career as a lawyer in New York as a junior partner in a law firm. In 2004, after a dispute with a senior partner, Maalouf left his firm and founded Maalouf Ashford & Talbot, LLP, where he now serves as senior partner.[5] In 2025, he was elected President of the Paris Court of International Arbitration.[6]
