Michael Mezzatesta, known online as Michael Mezz, is an American content creator, climate communicator, and economic commentator. His work focuses on explaining topics related to climate change, economic inequality, and public policy through short-form videos and interviews. He has contributed commentary to national media outlets and participated in climate and economic advocacy campaigns.

Mezzatesta earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University.

Career

Mezzatesta began his career as a business analyst at McKinsey & Company, where he worked on consulting projects in the energy, healthcare, and technology sectors. He later served as head of growth and operations at The Mighty, a digital health platform. Afterward, he worked as a strategist and consultant with mission-driven organizations and startups.

In 2021, he began producing social media content focused on the intersections of climate, economics, and politics. His videos have appeared across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn, and he has been cited in national and international media coverage.

In 2025, Mezzatesta launched the Better Future podcast, which features interviews with advocates, academics, and organizers working on climate and economic justice.

Media Commentary and Recognition

In May 2024, Mezzatesta was featured in Al Jazeera as a climate educator using TikTok to help mobilize youth participation in a 2023 climate march in New York City.[1]

Later that year, he was quoted in the Washington Post in coverage of influencer transparency and the growing role of social media in U.S. elections.[2]

He was also cited in a HuffPost article examining the projected economic and environmental impacts of proposed U.S. tariffs and immigration policies.[3]

In a 2024 article by Investopedia, Mezzatesta provided commentary on surveillance pricing and the use of consumer data in corporate pricing strategies.[4]

In January 2025, Mezzatesta appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored to discuss the Los Angeles wildfires, attributing the crisis to climate change and warning of worsening impacts amid rising temperatures.[5]

He was named to the 2024 Climate Creators to Watch list published by Harvard C-CHANGE and Pique Action, which highlights social media creators advancing public understanding of climate issues.[6]

In 2025, Mezzatesta was also featured on the American Influencer Council's 'Creators Trailblazing to the Top List,' a showcase of the top US-based performers on Instagram.[7]

As of 2025, Mezzatesta is an ambassador for the Wellbeing Economy Alliance[8] and a fellow at the Post Growth Institute.[9]
