Ming Tan is a Singapore-based policy leader focused on technology governance and inclusive digital development. She is the founding Executive Director of the Tech for Good Institute, a non-profit founded by Grab, and a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Governance and Sustainability at the National University of Singapore.[1] Tan is a Rhodes Scholar.[2][3][4]

Education

Tan earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Stanford University and completed a doctorate at the University of Oxford.[1] She was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford.[4]

Career

Tan is the founding Executive Director of the Tech for Good Institute, which conducts research and convenes cross-sector collaboration on social, economic, and policy issues shaped by the digital economy in Southeast Asia.[2][3] She is concurrently a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Governance and Sustainability at the National University of Singapore.[2][3]

In 2020, Tan was appointed Managing Director of IPOS International, a subsidiary of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore.[5][6]

Tan has served on public-sector and non-profit boards and committees, including as a director of SGNIC[7] and the Council for Board Diversity.[8]
