Development

Michael Showalter developed the project through Semi-Formal Productions, and is director of the series which was announced by Apple TV+ in September 2025. It has Alissa Nutting as showrunner and is produced by Apple Studios and Wiip. The cast is led by Jessica Chastain and Ben Stiller, who are also executive producers. Dean Bakopoulos, Showalter and Nutting are also executive producers, alongside Paul Lee and Gabriel Fisher for Wiip, John Lesher for Red Hour Films, Kelly Carmichael for Freckle Films, Jordana Mollick for Semi-Formal Productions, and Peter Principato, Allen Fischer and Brian Steinberg for Artists First.[1]

Casting

Chastain and Stiller were joined in the cast by Richard Gere, Arian Moayed, Annaleigh Ashford in January 2026.[2][3][4]
