Risper Cherop (born 26 March 2006) is a Ugandan long distance and cross country runner.[1]

Career

Cherop competed for Uganda in the U20 race at the 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Bathurst, Australia, as the Ugandan women's U20 team placed fourth overall.[2][3]

In July 2025, Cherop won the silver medal as compatriot Charity Cherop broke the championship record in the 5000 metres in a Ugandan 1-2 at the 2025 African U20 Championships in Abeokuta, Nigeria.[4][5] That month, she placed third over 5000 metres at the senior Uganda Athletics Championships in Kampala.[6] She represented Uganda at the 2025 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Spain.[7] In November, she placed fifth over 5000 metres at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.[8]

In January 2026, she was confirmed in the Uganda team for the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee.[9]
