Sam Francis (born 1994) is a British television journalist and presenter, best known for anchoring national news bulletins on GB News. A former communications director and creative consultant, he is also known for his viral social media presence and work in media strategy.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Francis was born in Bedfordshire in 1994 and grew up in various parts of England, including Sussex, Devon, and Buckinghamshire. He later moved to London, where he is now based.
He holds a Master's degree (with Distinction) in Television Journalism from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a Diploma in Journalism from Michigan State School of Journalism.
Career

[edit]Francis joined GB News in 2022 and currently presents daily national bulletins as well as weekend news programming. He has covered breaking stories on UK politics, international conflict, and national emergencies.
His bulletins have featured reports on:

- Police misconduct cases[2]
- Viral human-interest stories, including Britain's most popular baby names
He is also a weekend presenter for the programme Saturday Morning Live,[3] a news and lifestyle show.

[edit]In 2024, a TikTok video of Francis reading a story on the UK's most popular baby names reached over 15 million views in 24 hours, making it GB News' most-watched video across all social platforms. His news bulletins regularly feature on TikTok, Twitter/X, Instagram, and YouTube.

Communications Work
[edit]Before joining GB News, Francis worked as a communications director and freelance media strategist for non-profits across the UK.
He is also the founder of Fieldlight, a creative agency that provides video production, brand storytelling, and content strategy for organisations, charities, and independent creators.

There is a common online rumour that he is married to Freya Saunders, the daughter of comedian Jennifer Saunders. Francis has publicly clarified that this is a case of mistaken identity with another individual of the same name.
In addition to his broadcast career, Francis is known for his interest in health and fitness. He follows a pescatarian diet and is actively engaged in weightlifting and cardio training.
