Toyohito Tanaka (Japanese: 田中 豊人) is a Japanese business executive. He is the President and CEO of Blue Lab Co., Ltd., and also serves as an Executive Advisor to Mizuho Financial Group.[1]

Career

Konica Minolta

Tanaka began his career at Konica Minolta Holdings Inc., where he was involved in corporate restructuring and business development. He led the structural reform and withdrawal from the camera and photo business and was responsible for new business development at the corporate strategy division.[2]

General Electric Japan

In 2009, Tanaka joined General Electric (GE) and was appointed Executive Managing Director of GE Japan in 2010. He oversaw corporate strategy and business development, promoting initiatives such as the re-entry into renewable energy, healthcare IT, and 3D printing businesses. He also led nationwide projects related to post-earthquake reconstruction and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and advocated GE’s Industrial Internet strategy in Japan.[3][4]

Alibaba Group / Ant Financial Japan

From 2018, Tanaka served as Executive Vice President of Alibaba Japan and Chief Operating Officer of Ant Financial Japan. He led the introduction and expansion of Alipay in Japan and supported Japanese companies entering the Chinese market using Alibaba’s ecosystem.[5][6]

Ricoh

In 2020, Tanaka joined Ricoh Company, Ltd. as Corporate Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Innovation Officer (CDIO). He led company-wide DX initiatives, establishing the Digital Strategy Division and promoting the Ricoh Digital Academy for workforce development. Under his leadership, Ricoh was selected for the “DX Brand 2022” by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and received the “Nikkei Smart Work Award 2023” for innovation.[7][8]

Blue Lab / Mizuho Financial Group

Since 2023, Tanaka has served as Executive Advisor to Mizuho Financial Group, and in 2024 became President and CEO of Blue Lab Co., Ltd. At Blue Lab, he has promoted social innovation projects.[9][10][11]

Tanaka is an Executive Member of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives (Keizai Doyukai) and serves as Vice Chairman of its China Committee. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the “New Business Creation through Advanced Technology,” “Sports and Arts Industrialization,” and “Olympic and Paralympic” committees. He is also a Special Advisor to ICHI Commons Co., Ltd. and has served as an Advisory Board Member of Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd., Auditor of GE Healthcare Japan, and Advisor to Fabit.[12]
