Elbert Leon Kimbrough (March 24, 1938 – January 2, 2026) was an American professional football player who was a safety for seven seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL).[1] He played college football for the Northwestern Wildcats.
Biography
[edit]Elbert Kimbrough was born in Galesburg, Illinois, on March 24, 1938. He attended Galesburg High School in that city, where, together with his twin brother Albert, he played football[2] and basketball.[3]
His twin brother, Albert, also played American football.[4] Albert died in May 2024.[5]
Elbert Kimbrough died on January 2, 2026, at the age of 87.[6]
