Jorhat Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Jorhat, Assam.[1][2] This is the oldest stadium of Assam, inaugurated in 1950.[3] The stadium is a venue for cricket and football tournaments. The first Ranji Trophy match in Assam was held at Jorhat Stadium in 1949–50. The stadium is owned by Board of Sports of Assam and run by Jorhat District Sports Association.[4][5]
Jorhat Stadium has earthen gallery on the north and east side designed by late Abani Mohan Choudhury.[6] The stadium hosts ATPA Shield, the biggest attraction of football in Jorhat, involving top clubs from Northeast and rest of the country.[7] The tournament was first held at this stadium in 1960. The Assam State Premier League team Jorhat Town Club uses the stadium as their home ground.[8] In 2022, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the development projects of Jorhat Stadium at par with that of international one.[9]
