KSHP (1400 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a brokered-time format focused on Sports. Licensed to North Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, it serves the Las Vegas area. The station is currently owned by Las Vegas Broadcasting LLC and features programming from Sports Byline USA. [3]

KSHP has previously been part of the radio networks for the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Las Vegas Silver Bandits, the Denver Broncos, the BYU Cougars Sports Network, the Dallas Cowboys, and are currently affiliates of the USC Trojans and the Los Angeles Rams.

KSHP formerly ran a home shopping format, known as "K-SHOP, the Radio Shopping Show". Over time, as the internet has taken larger pieces of the direct to consumer sector, the format evolved into its current form. [4] [5]

KSHP was originally on 1410 kHz with a directional pattern to protect other stations on the same frequency. It moved to 1400 kHz in 1996 and began broadcasting from a new, less complex non-directional site amidst warehouses in North Las Vegas.[6]

History

[edit]

The station first went on the air in 1954 as KBMI, licensed to Henderson, Nevada.[7] On May 10, 1978, the station changed its call sign to KVEG; it moved to North Las Vegas in 1980.[8] On March 10, 1986, the call sign was changed to KFMS.[9] The KRAM call sign was assigned on February 1, 1988,[9] but was not used.[10] It became KKDD on April 26, 1995, joining Aahs World Radio, and KSHP on October 29, 1996.[9][11]
