Requests for History section
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hello! On behalf of Expedia Group, I'd like to submit a few suggestions for improving this Wikipedia article as part of my work at Beutler Ink. I've disclosed my COI at the top of the Talk page and on my user profile. I generally avoid direct editing and seek assistance from other editors to review and implement proposed changes appropriately.
I'd like to start with the "History" section, which currently has four subsections with 1-3 sentences each. Following are three proposed changes, including two updates since the most recent claim is from February 2020:
- I suggest removing the four subsection headers, creating a single "History" section. None of the four subsections have a lot of content, so this would help improve flow and readability.
- Since several news outlets have written about Expedia's Super Bowl advertisement in 2022, I propose adding the following sentence:
- Expedia's Super Bowl advertisement in 2022 featured actor Ewan McGregor.[1][2]
- I also propose adding a sentence about how the loyalty program is connected to Expedia Group's other brands, Expedia and Vrbo:
- Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo share a loyalty program called One Key, which launched in July 2023.[3][4]

I should note that the last suggestion is related to a similar request for the Hotels.com article. With these "History" requests, my goals are to create a single section from multiple subsections and to add a few updates relating to most recent history. As always, I can answer any questions here or on my user Talk page.

Requests for Sponsorships section
[edit]![]() | This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. |
Next, I'd like to focus in the "Sponsorships" section, which currently has an unsourced claim about Liverpool F.C.
Following are four proposed additions, including one to replace the unsourced text:
- Expedia became the official travel partner and sleeve sponsor for Liverpool F.C.'s men's and women's teams in 2020. In 2023, the deal was extended for an additional four years.[1][2]
- Expedia's first brand partnership with an individual features Dutch professional footballer Virgil van Dijk, who helped create a three-part video series about Liverpool.[3][4][5]
- Expedia was the travel partner for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the title sponsor of the event's Cultural Exchange Pavilion.[6]
- Expedia became the travel sponsor of Mexican professional association football league Liga MX in 2024. The travel company has also partnered with the Mexico national football team.[7][8]

I'd like to think these claims are in line with the section's existing text. None of the claims are contentious, but I avoid editing the main space and ask others to review for accuracy, neutrality, and general appropriateness. My goals are to replace the unsourced text and bring the section up to date. Thanks again! Inkian Jason (talk) 19:49, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

Southwest Airlines partnership
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
I'd like to propose adding mention of Expedia's partnership with Southwest Airlines, which has been covered by multiple publications. I propose adding the following sentence to the article:
- In 2025, Expedia was the first online travel agency to partner with Southwest Airlines to start selling tickets on behalf of the airline.[1][2][3]

Including three inline citations may be overkill, but I've shared in case editors want to review for additional detail. I'm hoping editors can review the proposed addition and update the article on my behalf.

Personnel update

I'd like to submit a request to add mention of the head of Expedia to the article. I'll let editors decide if adding prose to the article body is also appropriate, but I am specifically seeking to update the Infobox by adding "Tracey Weber (General Manager)[1]" via the "Key people" field seen at Template:Infobox website.

Not done for now: I think I'm just confused why just to add Tracey Weber and not other executives. Likeanechointheforest (talk) 19:18, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Likeanechointheforest: Weber is the head of Expedia, which I'd think is analogous to the role of CEO. The title may not include "chief" but I assumed noting the head executive would be helpful. I will let editors decide which key personnel to include. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 14:53, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

Hi again! Continuing the above work, I'd like to submit a few text updates for this Wikipedia article in an attempt to bring the entry up to date. The following claims are related to products and services, so a new Services section may be helpful. Following are claims based on reliable sources for editor consideration:
- Expedia displays total room rates including all fees and taxes.[1]
- Expedia offers deal alerts,[2] price tracking on flights,[3] and "price drop protection", which automatically issues a refund if the price of a booked flight decreases.[4][5]
- In 2023, Expedia began using Expedia Group's trip planner and other generative AI-powered tools.[6] The AI-powered Trip Matching tool provides travelers with itinerary suggestions based on Instagram reels.[7][8]
- The annual "Unpack" report is a travel trend guide based on data from Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo, as well as global research.[9][10] Expedia has also published seasonal "travel outlook" reports about trending destinations.[11]

Activities and vacation rentals
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
I'd like to propose an update to the following sentence in the Introduction: "The website and mobile app can be used to book airline tickets, hotel reservations, car rentals, cruise ships, and vacation packages."
This list of services is slightly incomplete, as Expedia can also be used to book activities and vacation rentals.
- Skift says, "The company said Wednesday it is expanding its offering to include four new products: Flights, rental cars, ticketed activities, and travel insurance."[1]
- USA Today says, "You can find thousands of activities and tours on sale at Expedia."[2]
- The New York Times says, "But these days you can find and book a rental halfway around the world in ways you may not have considered, or even know about: on traditional hotel and airfare booking websites like Expedia and Hotels.com... Expedia has a button on its home page that users can click to search specifically for vacation rentals instead of hotels."[3]

My goal for this request is to expand the aforementioned sentence to include these additional services and bring the article more up to date. I generally avoid editing the main space and ask others to review this request and update the article on my behalf. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 18:42, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
