Talk:Modes of convergence (annotated index)

About this article

[edit]

I believe having an index of many modes of convergence is important, since there are so many. Since it takes very little extra space, and does not sacrifice much browsing speed, I think it's worth also having some bullet notes on their logical relationships, but with minimal bold and/or links occuring in the notes since this would distract from fast browsing of the list proper.Wikimorphism (talk) 06:44, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bullets reserved for index items only

[edit]

For ease of browsing the list quickly, I converted all bullets not part of the main list into hyphens. Also, it would be nice to add sections on convergence in measure spaces and Frechet convergence for analytic and holomorphic functions. Wikimorphism (talk) 07:19, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note on section depths

[edit]

The section depths in this article (the number of signs delimiting section headings) are carefully chosen to match the logical dependencies of the sections and to make the table of contents readable. Please avoid altering them or be sure to do so with much care. Thanks! Wikimorphism (talk) 06:17, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Weak convergence and weak star convergences

[edit]

I have heard of the existence of these convergence modes, but I do not have the knowledge to add it to the list. If someone can, it would be great!--92.140.14.123 (talk) 20:08, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Downgraded rank

[edit]

I have downgraded the rating of this article from B-class to start-class. The fashion of writing here is incredibly lax and informal, and additionally a grand total of zero sources are cited. SpiralSource (talk)

Notability

[edit]

I thing, this is notable, because it is a list of notable terms and relations between them. Zagothal (talk) 15:08, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This article heavily overlaps with Modes of convergence, with this article primarily being an "index" for the later article which is written in prose (so reader the later article is necessary for the context of this one). I think everything that is here could be summarized in Modes of convergence as prose (if there even is something in this article that hasn't been covered there and can be verified). There are also no sources and references listed for the listed topics here for verification and notability, which further justifies the merging of the two articles. Support as proposer. Gramix13 (talk) 20:23, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support, also it looks like not just this, but the main article, and even Convergent series, don't really have references Sesquilinear (talk) 19:17, 14 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh dear, Convergent series is a vital article too! I might look into adding references for that article sometime today, but I'll go real quick add a template to mark the need for references. Good catch! Gramix13 (talk) 19:24, 14 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
