Talk:Percy Cox

"Secretary to the Government of India"

[edit]

Cox was never Indian Foreign Secretary (text to and footnote 4). That was A H Grant (1914-19) succeeded by Dobbs (1919-22) who then went to Baghdad to complete the job there. Cox may have held a subordinate post at Bombay (Encyclopaedia Iranica, s v Cox) - Derek Davis — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.75.111 (talk) 21:17, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Percy Cox fluent in Arabic"

[edit]

This appears to be incorrect. In his book "Kuwait and her Neighbours", page 274, H.R.P Dickson writes: " Sir Percy's Arabic was not too good, so I did the translation". Someone whose Arabic is "not too good" cannot be "fluent in Arabic"! Al-Birouni (talk) 05:12, 3 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
