  • Need publishing history of File:RBVZ-6.png to be able to determine its copyright status
  • Same for File:RBVZ-6 NDE.png and File:Ilya Muromets RBVZ-6.png

For the pictures – Woodman, 2000 states that these pictures were taken in Lida (modern day Belarus) in the Summer of 1915 and are of Ilya Muromets No 167. Kotelnikov uses the same picture set without attributing or giving location. The earliest publication of any of the images that I can find is on archive.org at Igor Sikorsky, the Russian years : Finne, K. N : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive (1987). Here it is stated that the image is "courtesy of the national air and space museum". I suggest that the following tags can be paired PD-Belarus and PD-US with statement added to description "Photograph taken in Lida, Belarus, Summer 1915. Author unknown. Full publication history unknown."
      • I'm discussing this with my copyright expert. If you can find any publication pre-1996 in Russia or Belarus for any of these that would mean we could follow your suggestion for those photos. Please be patient while we figure this out.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 08:11, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have not been able to find any Russian or Belarusian publications of these images prior to 1996. Although many Russian-language sites and books use the images, none attribute them to a specific publication or archive. The earliest example I have found is in the 1987 book Igor Sikorsky: The Russian Years; however, as far as I know, this book was not published in Russia or within the Soviet Union.
PD-Belarus tag states that images are public domain "At absence of the above valid publication and any other bringing of the work to universal knowledge upon consent of the author within 50 years after the moment of creation of such work, the protection period makes 50 years after the moment of creation of the work." It appears that the mages were first published by K N Finne in 1930 in Belgrade. It seems the publication history is through Igor Sikorsky not Soviet authors.
Explanation here:- ВОЕННАЯ ЛИТЕРАТУРА --[ Военная история ]-- Финне К.Н. Русские воздушные богатыри И.И. Сикорского
        Translation as follows: -
"The main work of Konstantin Finn "Russian Air Heroes of I. I. Sikorsky", published in 1930 in Russian in Belgrade, according to our information, has never been published in Russia, most likely because of the author's rejection of the revolution and his service in the White Army. Nevertheless, the extensive information contained in the history of Russian aviation, Igor Sikorsky's aircraft, close friendship with the creators and leading commanders of the EWC - I. Sikorsky, General M. Shidlovsky, Colonels I. Bashko and G. Gorshkov, his own interesting observations and conclusions, the ability to conduct a clarifying correspondence with the surviving members of the EWC after the revolution - all this makes the book indispensable for a historian of the first years of Russian aviation."
The site includes a copy of the book. Stivushka (talk) 18:38, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    • Link water-cooled, breather, crankcase. V12 engine, supercharged, polytechnic - Done
    • When was the factory evacuated? - 1915 (sources don't specify month). Added to article.
    • Anything linked in the main body should not be in the See also section. - Fixed
    • The pages of Shavrov in the linked online copy were virtually unreadable. - Changed URL to copy on archive.org. Text is clearer on this version than the one on DTIC. Images are bad on both but these are not part of the cite.

When was the factory evacuated? - Autumn 1915. Added to article with accompanying cite. Stivushka (talk) 17:25, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The pictures published in the 1930 edition should be tagged PD-Yugoslavia and PD-1996. The SDASM photo is fine. The problem with the other two is that the US copyright term for unpublished anonymous pictures is 120 years from the date that they're taken. Let me know whenever you've changed those tags and we'll be done here. Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 23:01, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Done, tags changed. Stivushka (talk) 06:05, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
