A search of Newspapers.com turned up only this, which is not independent and does not indicate notability:
Rigaku announced that it will receive the 2002 R&D 100 award from R&D magazine. Kenosha News, October 17, 2002, page 16
While the search only covered US newspapers, it showed numerous non-notable entries indicating a very large US presence, so that any notable events should have turned up.
Google is the same.
