This template is not very well organised. It is mostly sorted by decade with about a hundred links in each. That's not helpful as a navigation aid. If categories are too difficult then maybe split the decades into ? 2405:6E00:626:4943:6C3A:57B8:8AB0:C2CF (talk) 20:44, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

According to Edward Miller, "in 2012, US President Barack Obama overturned this chronology [1 November 1955]. He proclaimed that the Vietnam War had in fact begun on January 12, 1962, on the occasion of the first US combat mission in South Vietnam". It seems there is no consensus on the exact start date of the Vietnam War, but there were definitely no battles in the late 1950s.
