"those related to section"
[edit]If you visit Template:Update/testcases and search for "those related to section", you'll see some templates that are using bad grammar. I suggest changing that to "those related to this section", or removing that entirely. Would do it myself but is a bit complicated because the same code is also used to generate "those related to documentation", which is correct grammar and doesn't necessarily need to be modified. In the "Usage" section there's a typo in the template. It says "Updated is used to mark entire articles or entire section...". ("Updated" is the typo, should be "Update"). Betsy Rogers (talk) 08:58, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
Done, but you can edit the documentation on your own. It's unprotected and located at Template:Update/doc. That's usually the case for the template documentation subpage. You can use the 'edit' link at the top of the green "Template documentation" box to edit the documentation subpage. SilverLocust 💬 09:45, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
Adding an alias for the parameter "inaccurate"
[edit]Would like to propose and assess thoughts about adding an alias for triggering the parameter inaccurate, to improve the ease of use, for example I'd propose either incorrect or false? Over the years of using this template, I have frequently had to return to the doc page just because I rarely remember the assigned name to activate that part. Would be useful IMO. "part" parameter is broken outside of mainspace
[edit]I'm trying to use the template at Help:Section § Table of contents (TOC) and the template says:
Parts of this help page (those related to section) need to be updated.
instead of
This section needs to be updated.
as it says in mainspace.
For reference, the usage says:
To use the template in one specific section, and change its wording to refer to the section instead of the page, use
|sectionand insert the template at the top of the section:{{Update|section|date=August 2025}}

Could The reason given is: {{{reason}}} be changed to The reason given is: '''{{{reason}}}'''?
This is to be consistent with other maintenance templates and to be more visible to other users. 8BitBros (talk page • contributions) 05:29, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
- Sure, seems like a good idea. Though when searching randomly, I found many uses of the template that don't supply reasons. I did manage to find some examples which seem to work fine now: Honduras, Norway#Sports (
insource:/Update.{1,30}reason=/ hastemplate:Update).
Done. --Nux (talk) 07:58, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
