Current requests for reduction in protection level

[edit]
Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.

To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.

DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...

  • ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
    • If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
    • If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
  • ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.

You may request a protection reduction below if...

  • ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
  • ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
  • ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
  • ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.

If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.

Reason: Further information, which I have put at Draft:Klute (nightclub), created since page deletion. Please can I merge new content and submit through AfC process. Thank you. GnocchiFan (talk) 20:50, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

@GnocchiFan: Submit it for review with {{subst:submit}} first. If it's good enough, the reviewer will request unprotection themselves, assuming an admin doesn't do so here as a direct result of this request. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 21:19, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Please add an edit request to the talk page of the protected page before adding an edit request here

Requests for specific edits should be made on the talk page of the protected article. You can create an edit request below only if the talk page is also protected, preventing you from adding a request there.

Otherwise, this is the correct place to use in order to add an edit request if you are unable to add one to the article's talk page. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to properly add a request.

Requests for autopatrolled

Autopatrolled

[edit]

@Cypp0847 has authored 198 articles, of which only 2 have been deleted. One of these was for WP:SYNTH, the AfD having taken place during October 2022. They primarily translate articles from the Chinese Wikipedia, recent examples contain no issues that require action by an NPR. I reviewed Ma Tau Wai Road building collapse and found no issues, other than adding the translation banner to the talk page. Chinese sources vary in reliability, but based on the articles I have reviewed from @Cypp0847, the sourcing appears consistent and without issue. BLPs such as John Clancey are well sourced and do not leave any information uncited. A recent AfD of their article John MacLennan resulted in a unanimous keep. Their talk page is mostly filled with automated messages regarding images, with little after April 2025. Based on what I've seen from @Cypp0847, I am quite confident the 2022 AfD SYNTH concerns were an anomaly, and doesn't appear to have been an ongoing issue, with no reoccurrences since. Thank you for your contributions and translations, @Cypp0847! 11WB (talk) 10:38, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

I came across Javajourney while reviewing new pages and was impressed with their clean pages on music subjects. They have created 106 undeleted mainspace pages since late 2024. (There are three deleted articles, all from early on in their Wikipedia career, plus a recently deleted inadvertently created redirect. A number of articles created in 2024 were redirected or merged at AfD, and Javajourney appears to have taken Bastun's advice to bone up on notability to heart.) I reviewed the last 10 created pages in depth. Notability is always clearly demonstrated, whether through chart performance, reviews or some other WP:NMUSIC criterion. (NMUSIC is one of the harder SNGs to master and Javajourney appears to understand how to strongly demonstrate notability for the benefit of a reviewer.) Pages are all highly presentable, NPOV is maintained, and talk pages are created. Sourcing is strong and primary sources are used appropriately (e.g. for chart performance). At the pace Javajourney is creating new articles, granting them autopatrolled will reduce the queue for reviewers without compromising on the quality of the encyclopedia. Reason for requesting autopatrolled rights

I think i potentially need Autopatrolled rights to do contributions on Astronomy and Spaceflight parts of Wikipedia Abdullah1099 (talk) 14:14, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

@Abdullah1099: why are Gunter's Space Page and Next Spaceflight reliable sources? voorts (talk/contributions) 00:15, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
They are not primarily the most reliable source but they are some of the most popular sources. Both can have there own problems Abdullah1099 (talk) 02:43, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
@Abdullah1099: "popular" ≠ reliable. You should only be using sources that you know are reliable. Those sources appear to be unreliable to me. voorts (talk/contributions) 19:07, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
Bro i mean they are not completely unreliable, they are reliable enough in spaceflight lists as a source but if you want to create a spaceflight article at that time it becomes unreliable and other sources like NASASpaceflight, Ars Technica, etc becomes more reliable. That why it is part of {{TLS-R}}. Abdullah1099 (talk) 03:46, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
What are you unable to do right now where the autopatrolled right would help? -MPGuy2824 (talk) 14:42, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Reason for requesting autopatrolled rights

I've been editing Wikipedia regularly for about a year now. Initially, the quality of editing was poor, but I have always tried to contribute to Wikipedia through constructive editing. In addition to this, there have been about 30,000+ edits. Most of his edits and articles are constructive, so his articles do not require initial verification. I am aware of the right to autopatrolled verification and think that having this right would reduce the workload on article examiners. Marco (talk) 06:36, 7 February 2026 (UTC)

I returned to Wikipedia last year after an extended break that I was forced to take for personal reasons. I used to have auto patrol, however, I lost it due to inactivity in May 2025. I'm now applying to have it reinstated. Thank you! ScottyNolan (talk) 20:48, 11 February 2026 (UTC)

Hi, I am currently requesting autopatrolled permissions. I have authored more the 290 mainspace articles and 150 redirects. Only three pages created by me were ever deleted (one was later recreated by me, another was created at the very beginning of the time I started editing Wikipedia so I had very less knowledge, and the last one was due to a silly mistake of mine which I assure to not to repeat).

It is true that most of the articles I created are single referenced stubs, but recently I started authoring better ones (e.g. Gigamachilis). I also have a thorough knowledge of Wikipedia policies and I assure you to create articles which meet them.

Requesting AWB rights for updating deprecated CS1 parameters to their current forms ("accessdate" to "access-date", "archiveurl" to "archive-url", "archivedate" to "archive-date", etc.). RedShellMomentum 20:52, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Not done This would be a cosmetic edit and violate point 4 of WP:AWBRULES. And, in any event those parameters are not deprecated; Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2021 April 16#Category:CS1 maint: discouraged parameter et al. made sure of that. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:50, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

I do a bunch of {{short description}} edits, especially "none"-ifying the SDs for pages like Fishing industry in Canada and Athletics at the 1920 Summer Olympics – Men's 110 metres hudles. AWB sounds like it would make this easier: it sounds like I could load up a category like Category:Women's events at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, use a regex to find and delete any non-"none" short descriptions, and append {{short description|none}} to the beginning of each article. I also like the sound of the regex typo-fixing feature.

I also request permission for the JS Wiki Browser, because I run Linux and do not quite trust Wine to make AWB work properly.

LucasBrown 20:13, 14 February 2026 (UTC)

I sometimes find myself doing REFSPACE fixes while doing NPP work, so I'd like JWB so I can do this to all recently patrolled pages. I might also do some other miscellaneous fixes, or I might end up never using it at all (I'm very good at procrastinating). I understand the AWB rules and won't use it for anything contentious. lp0 on fire () 01:12, 15 February 2026 (UTC)

To assist in the many repetitive edits I do in aviation and aircraft articles. We have deprecated template coding that needs to be removed, outdated section headers (e.g. Survivors to Surviving aircraft or Aircraft on display) and left over coding from the article creation wizard that causes excessive white space. There are probably more tasks that it could help with after learning how to use it and gaining practical experience. Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 19:42, 15 February 2026 (UTC)

As a member of WikiProject Unreferenced Articles, I sometimes help in the tagging of articles as unreferenced. A backlog drive is coming up soon so I will be increasing my tagging in the coming weeks. This task usually takes several steps but could be made easier with AWB. Requests for new page reviewer

New page reviewer

[edit]

Hello, I am requesting New Page Reviewer rights again. This is my second request, and I would like to return to reviewing articles that need work. I have experience working at AfD last year and currently making articles. I have created and expanded several articles and through this work, have become familiar with notability requirements (especially the importance of notable sources) and BLP policy. I would like to help out further by reviewing new pages. AdobongPogi masarap 🍛 04:19, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

On hold. In your prior trial run, I think you made the wrong call at Hussain Al-Aryan and The Festival Players Theatre Company, which comprise about a third of the pages you reviewed. However, you've opened a lot of AfDs recently, and most of them appear to be going well at the moment. If your AfD track record still looks good in a week or two once those are closed, I think a second trial run is warranted. signed, Rosguill talk 16:59, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

I'd like to help address the NPP backlog. I've been a pending changes reviewer for some time, but the backlog there is typically very low. Coining (talk) 22:28, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

Comment: 610 mainspace edits, account created 2024-03-20. 99.6% of edits are live. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 18:25, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for your contributions and interest in this permission. However, between a lack of new article creations that demonstrate strong understanding of notability guidelines, and an AfD record that suggests more of an interest in WP:PIA flashpoints than anything else, I'm not seeing a track record of relevant experience for new page reviewing.  Not done signed, Rosguill talk 17:57, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for your consideration. I wasn't aware that involvement in a contentious topic was relevant to the criteria for this permission. Beyond one article that I know I have tried to draft a few times and has been knocked as WP:NOTTVGUIDE (including by a now topic-banned editor), even though it was subsequently conceded that WP:NOTTVGUIDE did not apply, which of the new articles that I've created have been problematic? More generally, what threshold would you suggest I need to meet before coming back here to try to help with the NPP backlog? Coining (talk) 22:55, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) Participation in PIA topics generally doesn't directly correlate to being trusted with NPR. The point @Rosguill was making (I think), is that only participating at AfDs that are in PIA topic areas won't show a wide ranging amount of knowledge or experience across the spectrum of notability guidelines and other such P&Gs. You also have no history of reviewing at WP:AfC. I will note however that despite the lack of history on your talk page, you have received a couple of barnstars. For a new editor, this is commendable! I would recommend continuing to engage in discussions and !voting at AfD (perhaps outside of PIA topics), maybe apply to be an AfC reviewer at WT:AFCP and create some reliably sourced content! All the best and happy editing! 11WB (talk) 00:34, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you @11WB for the feedback and suggestions. As @Rosguill seems to handle most of these NPP requests, I'd welcome their affirmation that these (or other) steps are the right ones to take and that if taken will enable me to come back here with confidence that the criteria will be as stated. Coining (talk) 15:58, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
Of course. Deferring to an administrator is the appropriate step. I have no issue with that. I believe the advice I've given you is sound, however administrators such as @Rosguill are the authority on such matters. 11WB (talk) 16:14, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
Sorry, only seeing these replies now. Regarding your article creations, none of them problematic, but your choice of topics (CONCACAF tournaments and an international TV station) inadvertently does not do much to demonstrate that you have experience applying notability guidelines, as these topics are pretty much guaranteed to be notable. So it's not a mark against you, but there isn't much for me to evaluate there either. That leaves your AfD record as the main thing to assess here, which is on the low-end of the match rates as far as NPP candidates go, and examining the cases where you did not match the result shows a troubling pattern, especially at discussions like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of civilians killed in the Gaza genocide, where you cite a policy that does not support your position. Frankly, looking at the totality of your AfD participation, you have a 62.5% match rate with the overall result, but a 100% match rate when it comes to !voting keep on things that make Palestinians look bad (Muhammad Atzar, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Other Side: The Secret Relationship Between Nazism and Zionism, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/1991 Muslim Brotherhood memorandum, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2025 Hamas executions, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kidnapping of Evyatar David, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Omer Shem Tov, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sexual and gender-based violence against Israeli hostages during the Gaza war) and a 100% match rate when it comes to !voting delete/merge/redirect on things that make Israel look bad (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Israel annexation, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip (disambiguation), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2023 Israel strikes in Syria, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Syria missile strikes (August 2019), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of statements by Israeli officials cited as genocidal, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of civilians killed in the Gaza genocide)--of course, some of those !votes individually are defensible or even unambiguously correct (I even coincided with you at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Israel annexation), but the overall pattern is one that is highly suggestive of a WP:BATTLEGROUND approach when taken together with an overall low match rate. This pattern of !votes is highly reminiscent of behavior that got multiple editors on either side of the conflict banned in WP:ARBPIA5. A cursory glance at your recent contributions shows you continuing this pattern at RfD.
I had been hoping to avoid investigating your case to such a degree that would require me to intervene as an uninvolved admin with respect to your participation in Arab-Israeli conflict topics, but at this point I can't un-see the activity in question, and feel obligated to proceed to issue a topic-ban. signed, Rosguill talk 17:02, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

Antoine le Deuxième, could you comment on your review of Jacob van Lennep Canal? signed, Rosguill talk 21:06, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
I noticed that the article was translated from the Dutch Wikipedia. I verified the subject’s notability, but I believe the article should be improved with additional sources. Antoine le Deuxième (talk) 15:08, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
Antoine le Deuxième could you provide a little more detail as to how you verified the subject's notability? What steps did you take? signed, Rosguill talk 18:12, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
I just googled it. This canal is mentioned in tourist guides; it is a landmark:

I see a significant backlog that I can use to help. I have made many reviews on Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for Creation. I understand the many rules of a Wikipedia page. A page must have enough reliable sources, in-depth details, must pass WP:Notability, etc. I have made a fair share of articles myself. CostalCal (talk) 05:42, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

I'd would like to requesting rights for new page reviewer for reviewing newly created articles and draft articles. Absolutiva 12:10, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

Page mover

[edit]

To handle undiscussed and uncontroversial move requests. You can also refer to instances/page history like Fitrat, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun on the Run. I did discuss this with fellow editors related to G6 move, see here. Thanks for your consideration. C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 12:32, 15 February 2026 (UTC)

Resubmitting now that I'm over the 3000 edits threshold; pagemover would be very handy for WP:AINB cleanup which sometimes requires mass-draftifying large numbers of articles created by AI users with no/low review, e.g., the ongoing cleanup of Lamp21's 200+ articles Athanelar (talk) 10:09, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

Requests for pending changes reviewer

Pending changes reviewer

[edit]

Reason for requesting pending changes reviewer rights

I’d like to request pending changes reviewer rights. I’ve been active for months now and have made 500+ edits, mostly focused on improving article tone, adding reliable sources, fixing formatting issues, and cleaning up drafts. I’ve created and improved a number of articles, particularly in biographical and cultural topics. I’m familiar with key policies like WP:NPOV, WP:V, and WP:COPYVIO, and I aim to contribute more to content maintenance through reviewing edits on protected pages. I’m careful with sourcing and would use reviewer tools with that same level of care.

Requesting access to assist with the backlog in helping to ensure pending edits meet the criteria of the Wikipedia policies & guidelines. (Littlestepsforward (talk) 07:20, 9 February 2026 (UTC)) Littlestepsforward (talk) 07:20, 9 February 2026 (UTC)

I have been actively editing Wikipedia for several weeks and have accumulated over a thousand contributions. Since January 25th, I have been using Ultraviolet to revert vandalism and warn users who engage in disruptive edits. I am confident in my ability to identify contributions that are vandalism separately from contributions that are not vandalism but good-faith.

If granted the Pending Changes Reviewer right, I will continue patrolling recent changes and carefully review pending edits to ensure they are appropriate and meet Wikipedia’s standards. ArthurPlummer (talk | :) 03:08, 11 February 2026 (UTC)

Sidenote: Before Ultraviolet, I used Twinkle, but not for very long. ArthurPlummer (talk | :) 03:08, 11 February 2026 (UTC)

I request the reinstatement of my previously held PRC. It was relinquished due to inactivity and hiatus, but I am now resuming work focused on BLP articles and anti vandalism on Wikipedia. Thank you. - Arcrev1 (talk) 08:22, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
Requests for rollback

Rollback

[edit]

I've been patrolling recent changes since December, doing quick vandalism reversions and notices/warnings. I've been active on Wikipedia for over five years and have more than 4800 mainspace edits. I've started using Twinkle to give notices and warnings, but I'd like rollback to be able to get Huggle access for more efficient counter-vandalism work. I have patrolled Recent Changes for around a year at this point and I feel that to help in my anti-vandal work, I will have to use the rollback tool probably anywhere I see vandals and reverse their contributions to the last helpful version. shane (talk to me if you want!) 14:29, 13 February 2026 (UTC)

Reason for requesting rollback rights

Many times the article is constantly vandalized by unregistered IP users and even by newly registered users. I am active in the patrol recent changes almost regularly. To facilitate the uncanning of incorrect, unconstructive, vandalistic edits. Mathew D'Marco (talk) 22:28, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) I'm not seeing any recent evidence of counter vandalism; no use of redwarn, twinkle or ultraviolet, 3 edits tagged with undo (2 of which are undoing yourself), and if there is counter vandalism going on beyond that it doesn't seem like there are any user talk warnings happening. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 16:25, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
Requests for template editor

Template editor

[edit]

Hi, requesting template editor access to help fix dark mode problems which are sadly quite common in template-protected pages. For example, many of the WikiProject templates, such as {{WikiProject Mythology}}, and also some of the article editnotices, where dark mode functionality is often overlooked. I've worked with templates quite a lot in my time here, and made quite a few edit requests, so having the permission would be great. Cheers, Newbzy (talk) 00:27, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Just wanted to say, I'm not sure Guideline 6's count is accurate. See here and here, here, here, and here for five template-protected edit requests that I have had successfully implemented. I guess they could be considered insignificant, but then again I only really like making small additions/fixes to templates. Newbzy (talk) 13:56, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
You are correct, the "significance" aspect of the guideline is what I failed to find in the majority of your edit requests. Points 5 and 6 are there primarily as the subjective demonstrations that a TPE candidate has the skills and ability to successfully implement edit requests.
