Jatothu Hussain is an Indian politician and social worker currently serving as a Member of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), a constitutional body under the Government of India. He is known for his work on tribal welfare, education, and rights of Scheduled Tribes in Telangana and across India.

Early Life and Education

Jatothu Hussain is born on 06th March 1982 in Macherla Village, Gudur Mandal, Mahabubabad District, Telangana, India, into a tribal family. He has done his graduation from Madurai Kamaraj University. His upbringing in a marginalized community influenced his commitment to working for tribal rights.

Entrepreneurship

After working in few Cable TV and Internet Service Provider Companies in Hyderabad and Mumbai, he started his Entrepreneur journey in the field of Broadband Internet. His company Hi Reach Broadband Private Limited offers broadband Internet Services in the state of Telangana from 2014 onwards.

Political and Public Life

Jatothu Hussain began his career in public service through grassroots social work in tribal areas of Telangana. He joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2018. He has contested in Telangana Assembly Elections in 2018 and 2023 from Mahabubabad Assembly Constituency. He also contested in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections from Mahabubabad Parliament constituency in Telangana. He was actively involved in various development and welfare programs aimed at empowering Scheduled Tribes. His work earned him recognition at the state and national levels.

In March 2023, he was appointed as a Member of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) by the President of India. He is one of the youngest individuals to hold this position in the history of the commission. As part of the NCST, he has participated in policy review, grievance redressal, and site visits to tribal regions to assess implementation of constitutional safeguards and development schemes.

Work in NCST

As an NCST Member, Jatothu Hussain has been instrumental in:

  • Reviewing the implementation of the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996 (PESA)
  • Addressing issues of land alienation, forest rights, and education access for tribal communities
  • Engaging with central and state governments to strengthen Scheduled Tribe welfare schemes
  • Visiting tribal belts across multiple states to monitor conditions and bring visibility to tribal concerns

Initiatives and Advocacy

Jatothu Hussain has advocated for:

  • Greater representation of tribal youth in governance
  • Promotion of traditional tribal culture and language
  • Improving infrastructure in tribal areas, such as solar street lighting, healthcare, and education

Personal Life

Jatothu Hussain is known for maintaining close contact with grassroots communities and youth organizations. He continues to reside in Telangana and is actively involved in social and community-based initiatives even outside his official duties.
