Hello Francjp. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Francjp. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Francjp|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 07:18, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hello Helpful Raccoon,
- Thank you for the message and guidance. I understand the COI and disclosure requirements. I do have a connection with OpenNebula Systems, and I appreciate the reminder to comply with the Terms of Use (I wasn't sure about how to explicitely state this, to avoid any conflict).
- I will now add a disclosure on my user page and will refrain from directly editing the article going forward. I do understand that it's suggested that I do not edit directly the page, but I would like to rephrase it, so it looks more neutral, and will add several references (please, let me know where I can add these links/resources).
- Can you let me know how I should proceed with this?, we are trying to remove any suspicion about NGOR and self-promotion about the page. Ideally we want to have something similar to what Red Hat has with its products/company.
- I will wait for your instructions/suggestions.
- Best regards,
- Francisco.- Francjp (talk) 09:56, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
- If you have sources that satisfy all the criteria in Wikipedia:Golden rule that contain significant coverage of the company itself, not just the platform, you should add them to the deletion discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/OpenNebula Systems so others can review them. Note that the discussion is about whether the company satisfies the strict inclusion criteria in WP:NCORP, not about whether the page is promotional. Comparing it to other articles is not helpful; see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 10:04, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, cool, I think I have enough "evidence". In any case, only links?, I mean, I can give some context on it, to avoid extra work to the editors (as I've mentioned above, I can prepare a neutral draft to edit the page).
- Also, just to point out, there are also some spanish articles, it's that ok? Francjp (talk) 13:24, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
