Your submission at Articles for creation: Christopher Ryan (aviation executive) (January 13)
[edit]
Your draft shows signs of having been generated by a large language model, such as ChatGPT. Wikipedia guidelines prohibit the use of LLMs to write articles from scratch. In addition, LLM-generated articles usually have multiple quality issues, to include:
The comment the reviewer left was:
- Promotional tone, editorializing and other words to watch
- Vague, generic, and speculative statements extrapolated from similar subjects
- Essay-like writing
- Hallucinations (plausible-sounding, but false information) and non-existent references
- Close paraphrasing
The subject is notable and the offline sources check out. However it looks like AI / LLM was used to construct this article. AFC reviewer will liaise with the submitting editor.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit it after they have been resolved.

- Hello there @JustinDanielRyan, With reluctance I had to decline, for now, your article on your father. There needs to be some work on it, since unless I am much mistaken LLM / AI was used to write this article. I have access to the printed sources (that is to say Aldous and Creaton) so that element is OK, and it provides notability. The text on the Talk page also looks LLM written.
- So if I am correct, it will need a human to rewrite the story, since LLM is banned for use in articles from scratch, and I'm in the gatekeeper role on that one. Also though it is OK to use offline sources, are there really no online sources, such as an obituary upon your father's death? For the "Tipperary Man" story, I have access to a lot of newspapers via membership of the British Library and the Scotland equivalent, so if you have any more information I can perhaps find it for you. That said, it's OK to leave one or two points as "citation needed". The article is relatively long, so it may benefit from being a little more concise, but that isn't a big issue. Let me know and I'll try to help further. ChrysGalley (talk) 14:02, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- By way of a PS, @JustinDanielRyan - I have added the Irish Independent story as a Clipping, so that is now online. It supports quite a lot of other detail, e.g. his life after aviation, so it seems sensible to include that in the article. ChrysGalley (talk) 14:17, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you Chris, I really appreciate your help and guidance.
- You are correct that I used ChatGPT to help draft the various sections of the article. As I was trying to cite correctly and stay as true to the story as possible, I did not think this would be an issue. I have now revisited each section with the Wikipedia guidance in mind and have also shortened it.
- Unfortunately I don't think a printed obituary of my father exists. If they help in verifying sources, I have clippings in my private collection for:
- [1]
- [2]
- [3]
- >[4]
- For the section 'Later roles at Ryanair and departure' I have Ryanair personnel files in my private collection which document my father's senior operational and management roles within the company. If that helps.
- Thanks again!

- Thanks for the reply @JustinDanielRyan. I'll drop you an email with some suggestions, on the basis that this is a close family member and you're entitled to some privacy in this general area. It's quite tricky weaving between a Conflict of Interest, primary and personal data. Hopefully after a few changes we can get this off to review stage again. ChrysGalley (talk) 18:56, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- I also have personnel records from Aer Lingus and Guinness Peat Aviation to prove these transitions. JustinDanielRyan (talk) 18:19, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
