Province template

[edit]

What you are doing at the provincial templates is not an improvement at all. You added multiple links to disambiguation pages and many, many red links. It is not of any value to point to the Vietnamese Wikipedia, as that is a separate project with its own rules and regulations. The Banner talk 12:28, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@The Banner: I just stumbled across this wiki to revert some incorrect provincial image changes by the CommonsDelinker bot and stumbled seeing you reverting other's provincial update edits in history. But since you say that, then I'll leave the current state as it is. Note that Vietnam is no longer have district level and now have commune level instead, so if the template is not updated to keep up with this change, it will become obsolete. Nvdtn19 (talk) 12:52, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Strange, as we have List of districts of Vietnam. And I suggest that you write the articles about localities first. And certainly, check the links you add to see if they really go to articles and not disambiguation pages. The Banner talk 13:04, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@The Banner: District is no longer a thing in Vietnam since 1 July 2025 and the article you given haven't updated to indicates that the district level is now removed and now we only have commune level and province level, so I think it also needs to be updated. I will take a look later if I have time. Nvdtn19 (talk) 13:51, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then update all relevant articles, with reliable sources, to show the current situation. The Banner talk 14:01, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Notability on 8Wonder

[edit]

Hi! I just noticed you added a Notability tag on my 8Wonder article that I created. The 8Wonder festival has been covered and widely acclaimed on our Vietnamese and international media, and I have added many reliable sources to back it up. Therefore, it meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines and warrants its own article. Thanks! RegularboyA (talk) 09:50, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nvdtn19 (talk) 10:01, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocking

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Request reason:

The IP range that I'm using (2405:4800:0:0:0:0:0:0/32) is currently blocked to 2026 because a sysop assume it is a proxy. But I don't have any VPN turned on and I do not use proxies, I just connect to WiFi and this block message showed to me when I try to edit a page. Nvdtn19 (talk) 16:25, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I have made the block anon-only to allow you to edit. See below.JBW (talk) 09:40, 27 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

FPT is a network operator in Vietnam, and not all IPs from FPT is proxy. When checking this IP address from the contribs list with external tools, the results is this IP clearly not belong to any proxy or VPN (see [1] [2] for more info). Nvdtn19 (talk) 16:38, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Nvdtn19, sorry you've been waiting on this so long. I think we can lift this block and I'm just asking around for a 2O on that before I hit the button. -- asilvering (talk) 03:30, 27 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Asilvering: This IP seems to only blocked on en.wp, it's not affecting other projects when I edit. If the IP was blocked for another reason (e.g. long-term abuse or vandalism), I should have applied for an IP block exemption rights. But this case is different, the reason for blocking is it's a proxy or VPN. There is also another possibility that the IP used to be a proxy before but has now switched to a normal IP without we knowing, since FPT is both a server provider and a network service provider in Vietnam (and I heard from a sysop in viwiki that sometimes the IP range used for the server expires, they will transfer it to the telecommunications company, becoming a non-proxy IP). In conclusion, this IP should be unblocked because it is no longer (or not at all) a proxy. Currently, I'm having a lot of trouble editing this project when stuck in an unfair blocked IP range. Nvdtn19 (talk) 04:47, 27 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I would have consulted ST47, the blocking administrator, but they have rarely been editing recently, having made only one edit in over a year, so I don't think there's any point in trying to do that. Their last edit was in fact an explanation of some of the issues concerning proxy bots, and having read it I can see the reasoning behind such blocks better than I could before. Nevertheless, I think that such a long-term block on such a wide IP range is likely to cause widespread collateral damage. I am going to make the block anon-only, so you should be able to edit if you are logged into your account. (Incidentally, I am very much aware of how annoying blocks of this kind are, because more than once I've been subjected to global proxy blocks. As an administrator I can still edit English Wikipedia, but I'm blocked from all other projects. I have tried contacting the blocking administrator, but she didn't even answer me.)
Asilvering, here is the 2O you wanted. JBW (talk) 09:35, 27 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. At first I'm also afraid that my request is being overlooked since no one has responded for days, plus with the inactivity of ST47, who is sysop that perform the block. If only anonymous users are blocked then I think it's ok, I will not be affected anymore. Nvdtn19 (talk) 13:31, 27 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @JBW, huge help. @Nvdtn19, I don't think the response was being overlooked exactly, so much as that many admins feel they don't have the expertise to deal with this kind of block, so they leave it for the next guy, who also doesn't feel they have the expertise, who leaves it for the next guy... etc. Sorry you got trapped this way. -- asilvering (talk) 15:43, 27 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Revert

[edit]

You added back obvious vandalism here. Please reverse yourself. 81.2.123.64 (talk) 18:17, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry. If next time you find that, please revert my edit with an explanation. Nvdtn19 (talk) 18:26, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
