Pending changes trial for PewDiePie

[edit]

Hello, @Reaper Eternal. Are you interested in putting PewDiePie, which you indefinitely semi-protected when it was still an AfC in Soulbust's userspace all the way back in 2013, under a pending-changes trial to test whether long-term protection is still needed? I am curious on what the results would be, as the daily page traffic and edit rate have dropped significantly in the past few years (1k+ daily views and around 3-5 new contributions per month), and Kjellberg himself has been out of the limelight for quite some time (no major controversy since 2020, and only posts new videos periodically every few months). However, I am a bit skeptical if this hypothetical experiment would actually work and not just end up being a burden to admins and more experienced editors, as many pages with lower daily traffic face frequent disruption (e.g., Louis Sachar). • Special report: What actually happened during the Wikimedia security incident?
A horrifying exploit took place, which could have had catastrophic and far-reaching consequences if used maliciously; instead, it seems to have happened by accident and was used for childish vandalism. How did this happen, and what did the script actually do?
