My will to participate in Wikipedia has waned as real-life grief depletes my patience to deal with harassment Wikipedia editing brings. I am following mostly articles I have contributed to extensively.
I receive pings by email only; I may sporadically check my watchlist and email, but please don't count on me to regularly respond to queries or to keep up with the work I once did.

Greetings, is there any chance you could take a look at Misti and see whether the things noted in its failed FAC can be resolved? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 09:49, 2 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Jo-Jo Eumerus, I sporadically have only small blocks of free time, often interrupted making concentration difficult, and I see issues there beyond those raised in the FAC -- it will take some time to get through and write up queries ... I will try my best, but no promises as to how long it may take. I could use article talk, but I was wondering if you would rather open a peer review to engage Femke and ImaginesTigers as well, or if you prefer to work on article talk as we usually do. In either case, it will take a while, but I will try to find time to pick away at it. I'm sorry I've not been able to be of much use to anyone lately. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:21, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
PS, maybe Hawkeye7 knows why the FAC hasn't been closed yet by FACbot. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:25, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@FAC coordinators: The nomination has not been closed. That requires a {{FACClosed}} template. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 18:06, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have had another attempt. Let us see if that one sticks. Gog the Mild (talk) 20:21, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The nomination has been processed. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 00:30, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Femke said on their talk page they'll be too busy, hence why I asked here. Didn't think to ask ImaginesTigers though, thanks for that advice. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 07:10, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jo-Jo. Let me post some thoughts on the article Talk! Shame about Femke not having time but their review was pretty detailed. – ImaginesTigers 08:59, 4 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I guess going by the comments that Femke and ChatGPT gave to me, I guess the problem is in part that many of the suggested changes either make reviewing more difficult, lose comprehensiveness or break the flow. So unlike other pre-FAC writeups, here it's as much about resolving disagreements, e.g comprehensiveness vs clarity, as noting issues. I tend to think that comprehensiveness is Wikipedia's most important strength, so I tend to value it more. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 09:03, 29 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Jo-Jo I keep intending to get back there and continue ... SandyGeorgia (Talk) 10:29, 29 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Gentle poke. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 08:30, 5 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Last poke, in case you have time. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 11:10, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well, given RoySmith's comments it seems like Misti will need another re-do. Or that is, if you are still interested there is still opportunity. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 10:09, 17 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
@SandyGeorgia Would you have a look at these WP:OR POV pushing as well?
1, 2
It has been going on for a while, the account involved is quite persistent. ~2026-25557-2 (talk) 19:28, 12 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@~2026-25557-2: welcome to Wikipedia; there is very little that can be done about POV pushing in the Venzuelan suite of articles, as almost all of the Venezuelan editors who know the history, the reliable sources, and Wikipedia policy and who might help maintain neutral articles are gone, for various reasons. Now, in the midst of Venezuela's biggest issue yet, we have rampant POV throughout and not enough editors to deal with it.
I do my best in what few editing hours I have to keep articles I care about clean; Maduro isn't an article I care a lot about -- it's always been a mess, and I don't enjoy working on crap articles.
Maduro will stop being the front-page news soon, and POV pushers will move on to the next cause of the day. If you want to learn how to effectively deal with disruptive editors, I suggest registering an account. Also, I almost missed this message; you should start a new section at the bottom of the page for a new topic. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:03, 13 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Ever wondered if that user could be an LTA abusing multiple accounts? Something is fishy about them. My gut feeling ~2026-27904-5 (talk) 06:41, 14 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SandyGeorgia,

I wanted to sincerely thank you for your recent contributions to 2025 United States strike on Venezuelan boat and Proposed United States invasion of Venezuela. Your edits have strengthened the reliability and overall quality of these articles, and it’s clear how much care you put into ensuring accuracy and neutrality.

I also wanted to share with you a draft I first created about five years ago but left unfinished: User:Cyfraw/Indictment of Nicolás Maduro. With renewed tensions between the United States and Venezuela, I’ve decided to revive the draft and work on improving it. Given your experience and contributions to Venezuela-related articles, your input—whether through editing, sourcing, or even just providing feedback—would be especially valuable.

My hope is to develop this into a well-sourced, balanced article that complements the broader set of Venezuela-related pages currently under construction.

Once again, thank you for your hard work. I am awarding you a barnstar afterwards in recognition of your continued efforts. Best regards,

cyrfaw (talk) 17:56, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Once the article draft is finalized and ready to publish, the new title of it will be United States of America v. Nicolás Maduro Moros. Thanks --cyrfaw (talk) 17:58, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I tried addressing the things you mentioned at FAC. There's a section on the article's talk page if you want to make additional comments. Velayinosu (talk) 02:51, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I responded to your first review if you want to continue. Velayinosu (talk) 03:31, 18 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Velayinosu I'm glad you're on it! My time and attention come in bits and pieces these days, but I will have another go as soon as possible. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 03:39, 18 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Medicine Newsletter - January 2026

[edit]
Issue 26—January 2026

WikiProject Medicine Newsletter

Happy New Year from WikiProject Medicine. Last year was tumultuous, with large language models competing for readers’ attention. These models often sound authoritative despite frequent hallucinations. They are however effective at writing in clear, accessible language, something research shows we often fail to achieve in medical articles. One of the goals of the Vital Signs 2026 campaign is to ensure that our top-importance articles are understandable, as this is one of the six B-class criteria they should meet.

WP:MED News

  • 2025 saw one Arbitration case related to WikiProject Medicine, related to conduct around transgender healthcare and people. The case saw a number of editors banned or topic-banned.
  • Thanks to Earwig, recent article talk discussions are updated again at WP:MED, so you never miss an interesting discussion. Our participant list is working too!
  • The Vital Signs campaign has kicked off. We've already removed misinformation from breast cancer, updated the management section of asthma, and assessed what needs to happen at autism. Can you help too?
    • Adopt an article, fix obvious mistakes, and assess if it now meets the B-class criteria in the progress table
    • Help out with any of the smaller tasks, such as ensuring that the new ICD-11 codes are included, or updated the disease frequency and mortality with the Global Burden of Disease study, published last October.

happy new year and thank you!

[edit]

dear sandy,

wishing you a belated happy new year! i also wanted to say thank you for being kind-hearted and level-headed with me @the j.k. rowling talk page some 18 months ago (Talk:J. K. Rowling/Archive 22#Anti-transgender activist in the first sentence) when i was still somewhat unfamiliar with how to edit articles and wikipedia's process. i'm still learning! but an approach that signalled trust and good-faith was very welcome coming from a senior editor, and in no small way encouraged me to continue on the project knowing that there were people who could still keep their cool despite dealing with the same questions and same somewhat-petulant attitude day-in and day-out.

best wishes!--Plifal (talk) 08:56, 13 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Plifal; thank you for taking the time to send such a kind message -- it means a lot to me. I hope you're enjoying your editing, and that 2026 will be kind to you and your loved ones. Regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:55, 13 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
