Editfilter

[edit]

Can you make an edit filter to protect us against stuff like this. Thanks, Polygnotus (talk) 06:49, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For more see here. Polygnotus (talk) 06:50, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Polygnotus. I hear your concerns, but I can imagine a few issues writing a filter for that. I think WP:EFR would be a good place to start exploring what might be involved (or in fact whether it's been attempted before, which seems probable). -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:23, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, see Wikipedia:Edit_filter/Requested#Google_search_/_Google_AI_overviews. Polygnotus (talk) 12:33, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And I agree that it seems probable, but I couldn't find any previous attempts in the archives. Polygnotus (talk) 12:41, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Is this true or some kind of joe-job?

[edit]

[1]. Now I would normally assume the latter but there's this, unless that was also a joe-job. I am also aware there's some LTA who is known to visit AN to post similar messages. Thanks. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 06:54, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Also, something really strange seems to be happening over at Women in the Bangladesh military, see [2]. Some accounts are locked as a sockpuppet of global banned জঙ্গলবাসী. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 07:00, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The AN poster is User:জঙ্গলবাসী, who as you say posts that kind of thing. They're also all over that article's history. The other user appears to me completely unrelated. I note Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Aaaas216&/Archive, which confounds me, courtesy ping for User:Izno. -- zzuuzz (talk) 07:18, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Was the lack of a primary block the counfoundation? Edits from the second account there looked reasonable and the filing editor didn't assert any particular disruption besides the obvious second account (or not-second account as denied after my warning - I don't remember if these were connected under the hood though I suspect I would have said something on the SPI if they were not). And apparently someone is trying to get them banned for some reason, heh. Izno (talk) 17:01, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
By my reckoning they were possibly different users at SPI time, but then I wasn't there. No issue, I hereby determine that জঙ্গলবাসী is at this time, and probably was previously, just trolling. -- zzuuzz (talk) 18:09, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Can you make Yuki Shiromita is a rollbacker please? ~2025-39674-37 (talk) 00:29, 10 December 2025 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2025-39668-30 (talk) [reply]

You mean User:Yuki Shiromita? Why? -- zzuuzz (talk) 14:46, 10 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zzuuzz!

[edit]

I've seen your name often show up, always blocking and defending the site from abuse with an iron fist. Great work! I also wanted to make a request. I became interested in anti-vandalism from the task center after my account was 2 days old and carefully read the instructions on WP:vandalism and WP:recent changes patrol, along with some time spectating rc, before starting. I've now hit up the required 30 day mark and want to try advanced software like anti-vandal and huggle, and also find out how rollback differs with twinkle which I already use. Thanks! ‎ ‎ BJayden (talk) 23:12, 13 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page housekeeping

[edit]

hey Zzuuzz, i saved you the job by adding the corresponding block template to User_talk:Rainbow_Dash_mrs as it seems you may have forgotten to or missed it.

Keep up the good work btw!

JoBo Gamer 11:00, 12 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

OK, well this is Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Salebot1 and usually get blocked dozens of times every day - they don't really need notification. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:43, 12 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Reach out on Training on AI/LLM in Editing - Dos & Don'ts

[edit]

Hi @Zzuuzz This year, we’re really trying to make our campaigns more efficient , with a strong focus on quality edits and less over-reliance on AI. We want editors to understand the dos & don’ts of using AI/LLMs in editing, especially how to use them responsibly without losing the human touch. The team is putting together a TOT (Training of Trainers) for our community, and we’d honestly love to have you join us. Your experience and insights would mean a lot. We’re planning it for 6–7 February 2026. Please let us know if you’ll be available, and if you’d be open to helping facilitate a training session or share practical tips with the group. DAnane(OFWA) (talk) 17:27, 12 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DAnane(OFWA). I appreciate the invitation, but that isn't something I'd be interested in. Perhaps instead I could interest you in Wikipedia:Artificial intelligence, which contains a collection of resources. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 15:34, 13 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
There is also WP:AIT - Flower (she/her; Accounts) 15:35, 13 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for the reply @Zzuuzz. However, some of these concepts cannot be properly explained to expecially people who are very new to wikipedia. I would also appreciate a recommendation of some one who can facilitate that for us. thank you. - It's virtual. DAnane(OFWA) (talk) 17:03, 13 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know of anyone personally, but anyone who watches this talk page is welcome to chime in. Options might include asking for pointers at WP:VPM, or from a participant of the aforementioned AI WikiProject. I also think a useful route might be to ask someone at the WMF - though I've no idea who - one route might be through the meta:Wikimedia Ghana User Group or similar organisations. As far as do's and don't go, I'm a bit of a cynic. Our guidelines are always changing, but it seems to be: don't create new pages with LLMs (WP:NEWLLM), and avoid AI images (especially of people (WP:AIIMGBLP)). It's very hard to endorse AI for people who can't already write or recognise encyclopaedic content, so for noobs I'd advise working on the basics first. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:39, 13 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Page protection removal/decrease - Kristoffer

[edit]

Hi there, I was going to post to RPP to request removal of page protection or, at least, a move to pending changes. I changed it from a redirect to a disambiguation page months ago, and didn't think to ask at the time. Thanks in advance. • Quinn (talk) 01:27, 30 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. OK, I've applied the step down procedure to that page. It's the target of an LTA who remains to this day sometimes hanging around. -- zzuuzz (talk) 08:51, 30 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Blokkolás

[edit]

KeFe (talk) 02:18, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you're writing here then you're not blocked, and your IP is not blocked. I imagine it's likely that you've either used Chrome recently, or used a browser-based VPN (and I imagine that might include one used in Firefox). For whatever reason, you appear to have recently been in contact with Google's proxy. Clearing your cookies can sometimes help in situations like this, but as I say, you're not currently blocked. -- zzuuzz (talk) 02:26, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Köszönöm a megnyugtató válaszod, igazad lehet, mert a GOOGLE fordítóját használtam. Még egyszer köszönöm a válaszodat. KeFe (talk) 13:03, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Another very small pest for you

[edit]

Hi, Zzuuzz, hope this finds you well. Sorry, this is very small fry, but they are a nuisance: contribs. talk page. Any chance you could do something? Ta. Storye book (talk) 08:48, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. At least the AI was an improvement, which is something I never thought I'd say. I approve of the sent messages. The response, if any, will be informative. -- zzuuzz (talk) 13:50, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, yes. Thanks for kindly taking a look. They didn't reply to the first message from another editor, which was over a month ago, and they didn't learn from that message, so I don't suppose they'll reply to or learn from mine. All the best. Storye book (talk) 13:57, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I forgot to mention something while we were chatting in Wikipedia talk:Protection policy

[edit]

I think it was either a mistake or coincidence, but how did you guess the vandalism in Talk:Steak by BestToWaitSomeMore was a page move first try? I have already checked CentralAuth and you're not an oversighter. - SimpleObjects-9ei (talk) 20:43, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, the page log, at the relevant time, "..deleted redirect Talk:Steak by overwriting (edit summary removed)..". That only happens with a move. -- zzuuzz (talk) 20:53, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, thanks for informing me! Also thought you were inactive for a while. - SimpleObjects-9ei (talk) 20:54, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I am perpetually intermittently here and there, so the notice stays. -- zzuuzz (talk) 20:57, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your uw-ublock-wellknown blocks

[edit]

At a certain point, I worry that this is taking too much time from you from focusing on other admin endeavors, and we have seen thousands of these accounts created. Stewards declined more locking a few days back after what I assume was one of the largest mass locks with over 300 accounts. Many of these accounts have gotten through, and they haven't edited, are we sure it is still worth pursing them? I'm sure there is stuff I just don't know per WP:BEANS and WP:CHK, but thought I ought to bring it up.

Anyways, thank you for all you do as an admin. I see you around a lot, as we have some common areas of interest, so thank you =) LuniZunie(talk) 12:05, 9 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I don't expect anyone to spend much time on this. I'm able to cheat because it's relatively simple for me to sweep some IPs and block the obvious. Having said that, there's been too many solicitations for off-wiki contact from these accounts, so everyone should feel free to keep a third eye out for that. -- zzuuzz (talk) 16:03, 9 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Scratch that, one of them edited. See Special:Contributions/Noahfearnly_private20. LuniZunie(talk) 21:01, 9 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
They do that. I read with interest that they were "reviewing the Wikipedia article about Noah Fearnley", and have some suggestions for its improvement. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:17, 9 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Strange, I have never seen them do that. I too find it interesting that they are commenting this, for, well, obvious reasons. I am wondering, based off of the main issue with the response, and the format, is it possible they may be bots? LuniZunie(talk) 21:25, 9 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I'm undecided between trolls, scammers, children, or AI (or some combination), plus possibly multiple connected people. I don't think there's bots. Anyway, here's two to consider: this one and this one. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:34, 9 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Dunblane massacre

[edit]

Don't want to send this to RFPP for a few reasons, but can you protect the page? This is an LTA and they just created a second account with very similar naming. LuniZunie(talk) 19:15, 13 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Spencer Got them, if you could also block the temp there that would be great. LuniZunie(talk) 19:18, 13 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
And now the talk page needs protecting. LuniZunie(talk) 19:19, 13 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
