Function overview: Shuttles DYK nominations between WP:DYKN and WP:DYKNA; retranscludes lost nominations to either of those two pages; removes closed nominations and empty date headers
Automatic, Supervised, or Manual: Automatic
Programming language(s): Python
Source code available: yes
Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate): Closely matches active WugBot task
Edit period(s): Five-minute intervals
Estimated number of pages affected: 2
Namespace(s): Template and Template talk
Exclusion compliant (Yes/No): n/a
Function details: DYK nominations are made in subpages and transcluded to Template talk:Did you know. When they are approved (as determined by a tick given by the reviewer on the nomination page), a bot (currently WugBot) takes the transclusion off of that page and adds it to Template talk:Did you know/Approved. WugBot also removes closed nominations and removes date headers when all nominations have been removed from them. I plan to (with Wug's approval) take over both of these functionalities and add two new ones: first, GalliumBot is going to find "lost" nominations (transcluded to neither page) and put them back in the appropriate place. Second, it will move nominations back to the unapproved page when a nomination's approval is rescinded, which is functionality WugBot currently doesn't have. This helps DYK promoters (1) not have to deal with nominations that aren't ready to be promoted when reading through the approved page and (2) not have to deal with retranscluding noms when they're pulled out of the queue or off the Main Page, often under time pressure. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 21:40, 11 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
