This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Israel. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Israel|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Israel. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Middle East.

Seems to have been left over from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Full Likud list for Israeli legislative election, 2015 et al. Lack of context, list mostly contains non-notable individuals and is a type of unexplained statistics failing WP:NOTEVERYTHING/WP:INDISCRIMINATE. Geschichte (talk) 21:30, 13 November 2025 (UTC)

Procedural nomination. This article was recently translated from German Wikipedia. It was nominated for G11 by another editor. I deleted the page based on sources provided. In retrospect, it would have been better if I'd retagged as A7. Yes, it's a publicly traded company. No, none of the sources directly detail the company. They detail funding, relocation, and other routine business news coverage which would apply to any other business. For my part, I skipped missed the request to restore by the translator this morning. If I had it to do over again, I'd have declined the speedy and then procedurally nominated the page as failing direct detailing. BusterD (talk) 15:05, 11 November 2025 (UTC)

- "Not sure", but it does read rather promotionally. There seem to be a few problems and criticisms that have been omitted from the article, e.g. [1] Deb (talk) 15:22, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- Different wikis have different rules for notability. I assume good faith that the page is faithfully translated; I'm not satisfied the high burden for NCORP is met. BusterD (talk) 15:37, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- The company was covered by the Wall Street Journal (https://www.wsj.com/finance/the-ai-middleman-expanding-in-the-consumer-bond-bonanza-fe16db74) and also in the Israeli press. This should be enough for NCORP.--Afus199620 (talk) 22:51, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- "Company issues first bond" is not information directly detailing the company, regardless of where it's documented. It's routine business news, like everything else on the page. BusterD (talk) 22:56, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- Wrong. There are also analytical references with more than routine business news. If a NYSE-listed company with a billion dollars in revenue and 30 billion in brokered loan volume, covered in the WSJ and analyzed in fintech publications, does not meet the NCORP threshold, the bar is clearly set too high. --Afus199620 (talk) 23:03, 11 November 2025 (UTC)

- Keep. There is a multitude of analytical non-routine coverage from WSJ (linked above but I found two more articles on a quick google search), Bloomberg ([2]) and Financial Times (see [3]). There's more critical coverage here [4] in "Banking on a Revolution: Why Financial Technology Won't Save a Broken System" by Terri Friedline, an associate professor at the University of Michigan that seems to focus her research on fintech for several pages and would serve as a great way to counter the promotional tone of the current article. Katzrockso (talk) 20:34, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
- Friedline is quite appropriate, and (unlike anything else previously applied) objectively examines the company's business model in a scholarly work from a respected imprint. When I performed my reasonable BEFORE, I was unimpressed with what I found. I'm also appreciative Afus199620 has made an effort to add more citation. Just a reminder, I called this formal discussion NOT because I was advocating delete. Based on my reading, the speedy tagger made a reasonable case this writing seemed unduly promotional (vs. sources). I am called upon to delete a fair number of G11 articles. Wikipedia is not a mere listing of fintech firms. Others have pointed out the prose. For my part, I have no dog in this hunt. I was happy to restore the page on DRV request, which I would have done in response to Afus199620's initial talk page request if they'd waited until I next logged in. Given the DRV, this subject deserves a broader community discussion. BusterD (talk) 21:43, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
- I apologize if my comment came across as abrasive, I know this AfD was procedural - I saw the DRV after it had already closed. I didn't mean to express any personal animus towards you, the original deletion or this procedural nomination. Katzrockso (talk) 04:32, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- No reason for anyone here to apologize. Everybody is doing in good faith what they logged on to do. The somewhat adversarial tone in XfD is an integral part of the process; if we're going to disagree, let's do so BOLDly, on the merits. Your provided sources are perfectly relevant and I thank you for locating "Banking on a Revolution," exactly the sort of analysis this page has been missing. The thrust of the page to date has been that the subject has zero negatives (which came across from the German language translation), but IMHO Friedline's section on the company makes an essential point that business models have consequences. I have added sources that further strengthen this: Makor Rishon profiles his culinary achievements, the Jerusalem Post highlights his founding of the Attilio culinary school, The Israel National News sources detail his international representation, Ynet notes that he taught at the Cordon Bleu in London, and Walla! Food explains his previous role as head chef of Edom (Adom) restaurants in Jerusalem. - I just found two additional sources from a previous deletion discussion about Katz that ended in Keep: Dining: A Gourmet Experience, which notes that he is a member of Belgium’s Association of Master Chefs, and Israeli Cuisine with Chef Michael Katz, which describes him as one of Israel’s top chefs. I also added links to the books Israel: The Complete Guide with Biblical Sites, Desert Adventures and Seaside Resorts (Abdou et al., 1999) and The Chef’s Kitchen (Aner & Rabin, 1999), which are reliable, independently published sources from recognized publishers, and provide verifiable coverage of Michael Katz’s professional work, and therefore further support his notability on Wikipedia.” Orlando Davis (talk) 03:10, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Orlando Davis Can you show me the WP:BESTTHREE? Katz does not (yet) meet WP:GNG. Polygnotus (talk) 13:20, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- I’m not sure which three sources are the absolute best because I haven’t read them all yet, but these three are definitely solid:
- The Jerusalem Post — a well-known English-language Israeli daily with a reputation for editorial independence — provides independent coverage of Katz’s career, including his training in Michelin-star kitchens, teaching at Le Cordon Bleu in London, and his role at Adom/Edom restaurants. This is not an interview, as it is a review of the food he prepared.
- The Philippine Daily Inquirer’s lifestyle section, part of a major broadsheet with editorial oversight, reviews Katz’s cuisine and gives meaningful coverage of his professional work. (Philippine Daily Inquirer – Wikipedia) This is also a review, not an interview.
- The Times of Israel is a reliable independent source that reviews Katz’s food rather than interviewing him, confirming his role as a chef and highlighting his professional prominence. It also notes his membership in the Belgian Association of Master Chefs and his teaching at Le Cordon Bleu in London.
- All three sources are independent, secondary, and not self-published, meeting Wikipedia’s general notability guideline (WP:N). You can see how Wikipedia evaluates the Jerusalem Post and the Times of Israel here: (Wikipedia: Reliable sources – Perennial sources)

- Comment. @Metallurgist: and @Gjb0zWxOb: How does this pass WP:EVENTCRIT or WP:GNG (which requires SECONDARY sources)? Contemporaneous reporting at the time of the event in the news is WP:PRIMARY. To become WP:SECONDARY coverage, sources must have distance from the event, and that doesn't seem to exist in the sources. (see https://libguides.ufv.ca/HistoricalNews which explains when news becomes secondary). I also question whether two separate rocket attacks are even necessarily the same event the way we have put them together here. This is why I thought a merge to Ashkelon could work. - 1. The article is about the destruction of a cultural and religious building which involved multiple civilian deaths.
- 2. It received international coverage from various news outlets with articles dedicated solely to covering the event.
- 3. It received statements from non-domestic leaders, Pope Francis and Cardinal Pizzaballa.
- 4. It recieved post event coverage.
- I fail to see how the article is insignificant enough to be relegated to a redirect. Red Phoenician (talk) 02:55, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
- Keep. In addition to a flurry of international press at the time of the event, there was much coverage of the church during the Christmas and Easter seasons following. There's also coverage in this journal article. Some other sources not used included Giannopoulos, Bill (October 12, 2024). "Israeli Airstrike Targets Melkite Greek Catholic Church". Greek City Times. and Frayer, Lauren (December 23, 2024). "What the Israel-Hezbollah war did to Lebanon's cultural heritage sites". NPR. This article refers to the church as heritage site. This wasn't just any building, but a historic 19th century church. I would support a move to an article on the church itself if someone cares to locate sources and go that direction. The bombing(s) could be covered in a larger article on the church itself. Best.4meter4 (talk) 00:56, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
- So let's create Derdghaya Melkite Church and place the info there. Longhornsg (talk) 23:08, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- Keep. Notable and relevant, also the reasons outlined by Red Phoenician and 4meter4. JJNito197 (talk) 23:41, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
- Lean
delete. We dont even have an article for this church. We need a WP:ISRAELDIDATHING essay comparable to WP:TRUMPCRUFT. ←Metallurgist (talk) 23:47, 29 October 2025 (UTC)- Not to mention Derdghaya barely has anything on it, even in Arabic. ←Metallurgist (talk) 23:49, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
- This just falls under WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Red Phoenician (talk) 15:42, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- No, it demonstrates that the place isnt notable to begin, so an attack there isnt particularly notable. This is another element of PIACRUFT. ←Metallurgist (talk) 17:09, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- I suppose I should add that I am not opposed to merging to Derdghaya. May actually switch to redirect on that basis. ←Metallurgist (talk) 17:16, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- Support redirect to 2024 Israeli invasion of Lebanon per below. ←Metallurgist (talk) 17:42, 4 November 2025 (UTC)

- Keep has significant coverage in multiple reliable sources including international sources and secondary sources, imv Atlantic306 (talk) 21:52, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- Keep because it is a notable event that deserved its on page. Qhairun (talk) 05:34, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
- "deserves a page". WP:JN. Longhornsg (talk) 23:09, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- Redirect to 2024 Israeli invasion of Lebanon per WP:SUSTAINED, and anything needed can be merged there. No need for a separate page on this per WP:PAGEDECIDE, as there's not much here and essentially no prospect for further expansion, given that no new RS coverage is happening. - Merge or redirect: to 2024 Israeli invasion of Lebanon. Some information could be merged, but a redirect would also be fine. Just another battle in a long war, no lasting notability. Oaktree b (talk) 14:31, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- The war only lasted one month so I am not sure how it was "long". Lasting notability was already shown above with articles discussing the topic post-event and a journal article (provided by 4meter4) covering it which was published just 5 months ago. Red Phoenician (talk) 16:39, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- Keep-Substantial press coverage indicates notability. Display name 99 (talk) 17:03, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
- Redirect to 2024 Israeli invasion of Lebanon Agnieszka653 (talk) 20:52, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
- Merge to 2024 Israeli invasion of Lebanon per WP:SUSTAINED. Only three of these sources are salvageable. The site has no WP:SIGCOV apart from the strike and even that was short-lived. Tioaeu8943 (talk) 22:54, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
