[edit]The top of Wikipedia:WikiProject Infoboxes claims this group is inactive. If you're not, please fix the template. WhatamIdoing (talk) 20:51, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- I’ve wondered for quite sometime who determines inactivity and using what criteria. Anyone know the answer? — TadgStirkland401 (TadgTalk) 22:46, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- I was here last month with a dispute regarding Linda Lovelace. --Magnolia677 (talk) 22:49, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- @TadgStirkland401, the usual criteria are listed at Template:WikiProject status. The most important one is unwritten: If you think you are an active participant of a WikiProject, and someone else marks it "inactive", then you are allowed to revert it. What we want is for editors to see, at a glance, whether there's someone here and available to help anyone who asks for help. If that's true about this group (and since questions on this talk page are getting answers, I'd say it is), then this group should not be marked as inactive.
- If you'd like to develop the group, consider the advice at WP:REVIVE. One thing this group could uniquely do is try to shine a light on Category:Wikipedia articles with an infobox request. For example, you could remind other WikiProjects about their sub-categories and suggest that they organize a drive to reduce those requests. (IMO it's more productive to fulfill actual requests than to fight about whether to force an infobox into a particular article where it is probably not wanted.) - Based on everything I’m seeing, this is NOT an inactive group. I’ll see about fixing it tomorrow. Thanks for the help. — TadgStirkland401 (TadgTalk) 03:55, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

Trouble with the archives infobox
[edit]Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone can help - I've tried to use Template:Infobox archives in an article but when I do the preview just shows a red link saying the template doesn't exist. Not sure what's going wrong here?! Wikociewie (talk) 16:39, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Not sure what you're doing wrong, but what's more important is that not every article needs an infobox. Archive is about the concept in general, and infoboxes are useful when they can provide particular data key to particular instances of a class (a particular archives). Remsense ‥ 论 16:40, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah - fair enough that one was probably a bit unnecessary.
- Anyway, I have tried to use the infobox in this one Archive of Folk Culture, which I think could do with an infobox and that's where I am having this problem. Wikociewie (talk) 16:44, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- The template works on other articles. Maybe you should compare your edits to one of those (eg. The London Archives). — TadgStirkland401 (TadgTalk) 17:57, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello. I have tried to use this template again and think I have found what my original issue was: if the template is copied directly the first line is capitalised (Infobox Archives) and does not link until it is matched to the title of the page (Infobox archives). I'm not quite sure how to go about changing this (page move?) and so thought I'd come here for advice.
- I've also found that while the image parameter works, the logo one does not so both can't be used...
- Any help/advice appreciated! Wikociewie (talk) 07:30, 3 August 2025 (UTC)

Feedback requested – draft Infobox "history of place"
[edit]Hello,
I’ve been experimenting with a new infobox intended for *“History of …”* articles (e.g. History of Suffolk, History of Norfolk). At the moment, there isn’t a standard template for these pages, and most either use no infobox or borrow one meant for counties/cities.
I’ve drafted a version in my userspace here: → User:JASpencer/Template:Infobox history of place
Aim:
- Provide a concise, MOS:INFOBOX-compliant summary (earliest evidence, key periods, notable sites, major events).
- Avoid duplicating what {{Infobox English county}} already does.
- Keep parameters minimal and optional, hiding empty rows.
Example usage: User:JASpencer/History of Suffolk
I’d really value feedback from more experienced template editors on:
- Whether the structure and parameter choices follow best practice.
- Any pitfalls I should avoid before proposing this more widely.
- If this approach makes sense, or if it’s better handled another way (e.g. wrapping an existing template).
Many thanks in advance!
