Feedback request on club draft
[edit]Hello, I'm a new editor on Wikipedia, and I've been working on a draft project for a club team. It's a heavy work in progress and needs to be overhauled completely to the past tense due to the club buying/merging with another club and forming a aggregate team. Anyways, I was wondering if this was the right place to ask for help and feedback on the draft, and how I could possibly move the draft to the Wikiproject for rowing? Here's the link to the draft. Thanks for any help or feedback, and if this is an out of place talk post please delete it, I'm really new to talk pages and Wikiprojects.

Draft assistance
[edit]Hello, I'm aware that this project seems to be incredibly quiet, but if there are any willing editors around, help on my two drafts would be very much appreciated. I'm currently working on draft pages for CJRC and their predecessor MRC, as the club is now one of the top regional clubs in the Philadelphia and South Jersey region.
If you'd like to help or have any suggestions please message me! Thanks, Pixzzl. Pixzzl (talk) 05:28, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
- Some thoughts, Pixzzl:
- It's generally best to draft articles in draft space than in user space. The main difference is that when it's in draft space, if another editor were to start the same article, they'd see that you had already prepared a draft. It's happened to me before, and it's very annoying when you put a lot of work into something, only to find that someone else has beaten you to it (with an inferior product at that).
- Neither article is sufficiently referenced. You'd struggle to get them accepted.
- That said, I see that there are both User:Pixzzl/Moorestown Rowing Club and Draft:Moorestown Rowing Club. What are you trying to achieve by having two of the same?
- Lastly, Wikipedia editing isn't anywhere near as straightforward as it might seem. You are a new editor, with a low edit count, and the first thing that you embark on is to try to write new articles. That's simply not a good idea. It's way better to add to existing articles, gain experience by doing so (if you edit in mainspace and something isn't as good as it should be, other editors will soon let you know). And once you've got the hang of it, then it's time to get into new articles.
- I hope that's useful advice. Schwede66 06:02, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the helpful advice! I will move the CJRC draft to the draft space. The user space version of the MRC page is to test larger features and to archive large parts that I removed from the draft space version. It's essentially a sandbox to keep the draft space version cleaner.
- Unfortunately getting references for these rowing clubs, even when they are very notable in the space, has been difficult. I'm confused as to how many articles, such as Oakland Strokes, and many are either accepted or stay up with such little citing and referencing.
- I will continue to copy edit on the main space to improve my skills, thank you for the help! Pixzzl (talk) 12:31, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
- I've "tidied up" the Oakland Strokes article. Schwede66 12:46, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
- With regard to referencing, when you get your head around how to write clean articles, you'll figure that it's just not worth writing anything that you cannot reference. Wikipedia:Verifiability is policy. It's a cornerstone of Wikipedia. Schwede66 12:48, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
- Alright thank you! Pixzzl (talk) 13:06, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
