These websites are considered reliable on the Chinese Wikipedia for video game coverage (GameGrape: 1, 2, 3; Bahamut: 1, 2; 4Gamers: 1) with the exception of Youxi Tuoluo which has not been discussed. Game Grape (also known as Youxi Putao) has an independent editorial team ([1]). I'm unsure if the Taiwanese company 4Gamers is related to 4Gamer.net.
@It is a wonderful world, IngeniousPachyderm, and Olliefant: pinging you all per recent discussions on Talk:Arlecchino (Genshin Impact)/GA1 and Talk:Liyue (Genshin Impact)/GA1.
Gommeh 📖 🎮 17:36, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Gommeh Thank you for the ping. Glad to know it was already determined to be reliable on Chinese Wikipedia. Thank you! IngeniousPachyderm (talk) 19:08, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
- Youxi Tuoluo is currently under discussion (zh:WikiProject_talk:电子游戏#遊戲陀螺), where editors are in favor of a "marginally reliable" rating. SuperGrey (talk) 21:31, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
- I didn't know that! Thanks for letting me know. Gommeh 📖 🎮 21:40, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I can't really help here as I don't speak Chinese. I will say the evidence you have given points towards them being reliable though. IAWW (talk) 13:47, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
Comment: From what I can gather. 4Gamers are not related to 4Gamer.net. I do know they have previously been used in a couple of GAs, and as the nom has mentioned they are listed as reliable on Chinese wiki, but neither of those factors fully indicate reliability for here. That being said, I do think their news/editorial content is pretty good and I did see at least one or two editors with prior experience. They are pretty similar to Inside Games with how their authors operate. However, as far as I can tell they don't have a listed Editorial policy, unless I completely missed it, which is a knock against it. At the same time, from what I could tell, they do seem to be a respected organisation within the industry. I had seen them on occasion cover stuff from other reliable sources and then provide additional commentary. They also do provide commentary on subjects not often talked about elsewhere. Perhaps if we restrict to just specifically to the news section, I could see it passing by as situational or marginally reliable. Obviously though, it should go without saying that any WP:USERGEN content on there is strictly prohibited. CaptainGalaxy 17:17, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- They don't have an editorial policy listed, but they do mark all sponsored content as "brand provided". I'm considering emailing them and asking if they do have an editorial policy though, as they seem to be respected in the industry and it would be odd for them not to have one if that was the case. If they do, then I'd say either situational or reliable; if not, situational or marginally reliable. Gommeh 📖 🎮 17:34, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
Note: "GNN Gamer" Bahamut is already listed reliable as Game News Network a couple years earlier when I brought it up. Please thank me.
Note #2: What is the difference between Youxi (Game) Putao (Grape)?
Opinion #3: I am personally in favor of the Taiwan-based 4Gamers. It is indeed unrelated to the established Japanese 4Gamer.net. It has a solid corporate background as a Taiwanese esports company; as a comparison, consider similar websites if run by Tencent. From my observations, at least among Taiwanese it is somewhat reputable albeit niche. General precautions to Taiwanese media (ie. abuse of factually accurate clickbaits and heavy focus on ordinary Threads/Twitter/PTT user reactions[a]) would apply. MilkyDefer 16:13, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
- The precautions also apply to any other English gaming media nowadays -- writing news with social media posts and clickbaity titles are now the new norm, sadly. SuperGrey (talk) 18:11, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
- ^ Example (hypothetical): "No tolerance anymore! Chen replies with 'this sentence' in regards with rumoured infidelity", with contents indeed detailing Chen's response followed by background of the alleged affair and reactions from ordinary net users.
GamesMarkt information outdated?
[edit]Hello, I have never used the source before so I wanted to check first. The current link for GamesMarkt appears to be dead, but they probably moved to this page? https://www.gamesmarket.global/ Also, the recommended beta.gamesmarkt.de in the note is not working either. Maybe someone who has previously used the source can quickly confirm this, thanks! Vestigia Leonis (talk) 15:21, 19 November 2025 (UTC)
- Pinging @IceWelder as you reviewed this a while ago; forgot to check the archived discussions first. Vestigia Leonis (talk) 10:12, 24 November 2025 (UTC)

- @IceWelder Thanks for confirming. I also found their official statement now. All articles are written in English since last year, so this probably should be moved to General gaming in the table? Vestigia Leonis (talk) 22:57, 24 November 2025 (UTC)

I know that there were concerns about AI writing done by authors here in a prior discussion that caused it to be listed as unreliable, but I am of the opinion that these concerns are misplaced. As someone who has written for rinky dink websites before, the editorial process is not necessarily done on a per-item basis (i.e. *writes article, article gets reviewed, article gets posted* vs. *writes multiple articles, articles get reviewed, articles get posted*, which I believe the latter may be the case). I could understand if the authors cited—Kyle Wilson and Echo Ansley—were unknown, but they're definitely not. While freelance writers, both have a lot of experience with multiple reliable sources. Wilson has written for Wired, Vice, Nature, The Verge, and Kotaku, while Ansley has written for Rolling Stone, NME, Space.com, Polygon, Inverse, Nintendo Life, Push Square, PC Gamer, PCGamesN, and IGN. As far as editorial policy goes, I don't know if the lack of an editorial policy was actually the case then, but it now does have one: [2] Even if there's possible suspicions of AI, I don't think the suspicions are strong enough to label this source unreliable. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 22:40, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
- Reliable per the above, unless someone sees an issue I'm not they look fine.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:21, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- Reliable per KFM. Unless there's something I'm missing this looks decently reliable at a glance, and they do seem to have some credentials. There should be a tag to keep an eye out for potential AI usage per the prior discussion but otherwise I see no issue. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 03:45, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
Multiple sources
[edit]The following are multiple websites that are used as sources in the Kururin Squash! article, but have not reached a consensus or have not been discussed prior. Quick disclaimer that some of these are not in English, which may be a reason why they have not been discussed before.
3DNews
[edit]Find video game sources: "3DNews" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · TWL · NYT · WP reference · VG/RS · VG/RL · WPVG/Talk
This website is in Russian. On their "about" page it lists their editorial team, legal address, and certification. Z-Gamer Guys (talk) 23:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- Reliable Seems like a well-established Russian gaming/technology news site. TarkusABtalk/contrib 18:53, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- Reliable per Russian WP:VG/RS. –GM 20:06, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
Gamekyo
[edit]Find video game sources: "Gamekyo" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · TWL · NYT · WP reference · VG/RS · VG/RL · WPVG/Talk
This website is in French. Unsure where to find information about the staff/editorial team. Z-Gamer Guys (talk) 23:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- Unreliable I can't find any names of staff. The articles all seem to be written by site members? TarkusABtalk/contrib 18:46, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
Hey Poor Player
[edit]Find video game sources: "Hey Poor Player" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · TWL · NYT · WP reference · VG/RS · VG/RL · WPVG/Talk
Has been previously discussed here. Leaning towards unreliable or situational. Z-Gamer Guys (talk) 23:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- Unreliable - They have editors but none of the editors or staff seem to have any professional credentials. TarkusABtalk/contrib 18:34, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
Kikizo
[edit]Find video game sources: "Kikizo" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · TWL · NYT · WP reference · VG/RS · VG/RL · WPVG/Talk
Has been previously discussed here. Leaning towards reliable or situational. Z-Gamer Guys (talk) 23:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- Reliable - Credits section lists many "great editors and contributors" who have worked for other reliable magazines and websites. They had a lot of exclusive access/interviews not granted to amateurs. TarkusABtalk/contrib 18:30, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
Michibiku
[edit]Find video game sources: "Michibiku" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · TWL · NYT · WP reference · VG/RS · VG/RL · WPVG/Talk
Has been previously discussed here. Leaning towards reliable. Z-Gamer Guys (talk) 23:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- Reliable - Generally reliable as all the articles are written by Jenni Lada and Graham Russell who are the lead editors at Siliconera. I would just be careful if they're making some outrageous claim because I see no editorial policy, so maybe find another source to back it in those cases. TarkusABtalk/contrib 18:41, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
Nichebarrier.com
[edit]Find video game sources: "Nichebarrier.com" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · TWL · NYT · WP reference · VG/RS · VG/RL · WPVG/Talk
Presumably archives sales data from Famitsu, COMG!, and Amazon.co.jp. Z-Gamer Guys (talk) 23:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- Weird site. Can we verify where they're getting their information? If they are consistently correct about Famitsu, I think we can safely assume the Famitsu stuff is correct, but I would just source the information back to the Famitsu issue in which it is found rather than this website. Where are they getting Amazon sales data from? I hope it's not a guess like SteamDB. TarkusABtalk/contrib 18:59, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
Nintendo Difference
[edit]Find video game sources: "Nintendo Difference" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · TWL · NYT · WP reference · VG/RS · VG/RL · WPVG/Talk
This website is in French. The staff uses pseudonyms or online names, and their directory is no longer accessible, but is archived here (2020) and here (2007). They have a history listed here as well. Z-Gamer Guys (talk) 23:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- Unreliable I'm pretty suspicious of any website that doesn't publish full names of their editors or lead staff. TarkusABtalk/contrib 19:04, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- I agree that it is unreliable. I don't feel as harshly about not using full names, but the site should then compensate for this in some other way. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 00:39, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
RetroAge
[edit]Find video game sources: "RetroAge" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · TWL · NYT · WP reference · VG/RS · VG/RL · WPVG/Talk
This website is in Polish. They have a list of affiliate sites that are also in Polish, of which I have no knowledge of. They have a history and about section along with staff (archived). Z-Gamer Guys (talk) 23:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- Unreliable Takes user submitted reviews, no full names of editors/staff, and their about page says "Steps have been taken to eliminate the excessive number of errors in reviews and articles." So they weren't before? TarkusABtalk/contrib 19:11, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- Could you please link the websites using {{find video game sources}}? It makes it a little bit easier for us to determine reliability that way. Gommeh 📖 🎮 01:37, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- Just a note that sources don't need to be discussed here to be used in articles, in case you were thinking of holding up the GA review, as conversations here can move slow. As the reviewer, I would assess the sources as best as I can for the time being. TarkusABtalk/contrib 18:25, 27 November 2025 (UTC)

Nitter
[edit]Find video game sources: "Nitter" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · TWL · NYT · WP reference · VG/RS · VG/RL · WPVG/Talk · LinkSearch · LinkTo
So right now we're in a situation where more and more game developers are instead of going to gaming journalism outlets to give commentary are posting design commentary and concept art on games or characters they worked on, or anecdotes from the gaming industry that are important for articles. While these are primary, a lot of times it's info only available in those tweets and useful to get the bigger picture on something, such as a designer explaining why he came up with a certain idea or clarifying a misunderstanding, that sort of thing i.e. Akira Yasuda frequently has properly credited who created many of Capcom's fighting game characters.
The problem is thanks to Elon Musk, twitter currently can't be archived. There are workarounds with its Embed Tweet function, but it's unreliable at best and can't preserve any images loaded into the tweets. That's why I want to suggest adding Nitter as an archival workaround for tweets: it's a Twitter/X scraper that can show profiles without being logged in, but can also archive tweets and even show the surrounding tweets in the archive, something the Embed workaround can't. Example here, an archive of Imai Toonz discussing his work on Fighting Vipers 2. Given it's just scraping the site and not adding anything to it, I'm not seeing any downside at all to promoting it to help preserve information.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 14:13, 30 November 2025 (UTC)

- That About Us page is not instilling confidence, even less when I check their bios.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:58, 4 December 2025 (UTC)
- Agreed, the page leaves a lot to be desired. Their review policy page is really barebones as well. Do they accept UGC? Leaning unreliable at the moment. Gommeh 📖 🎮 17:39, 4 December 2025 (UTC)
- Unreliable - Self described blog from people without a lot of obvious gaming reliability. The lass of the three has written for SPACE.com, but I'm unsure if that actually counts towards being reliable. That and it seems like the same people writing are the same ones publishing, as far as I've heard is a red flag. EnvironmentalDoor (talk) 00:37, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
Mythic Ocean review sources
[edit]All of these were sources listed on the draft of Mythic Ocean or its talk page. By me (and assistance from Zxcvbnm and Ludoyo), to be perfectly honest. Obviously, the tying thread is them reviewing or otherwise covering Mythic Ocean.

And I didn't know if being reliable in one language could apply to another since it's entirely possible that they don't have the same qualities that make their English side so reliable in the first place. Reviewed is a website I discovered when searching for sources on Kirby's Dream Collection. While they mostly review home appliances and general technology, there seem to be some dedicated video game reviews and topics as well. On their about page, they detail how they evaluate products, and they have an ethics and advertising policy. Some of the gaming topics they have covered can be found here. It is part of USA Today, a reliable source per WP:RS/P. More recent articles since 2023 have been accused of containing AI-generated content (1 and 2), so this is regarding its reliability prior to that. While there are staff writers with experience testing products, there is no list of all staff members who work for the website, but they have their own profiles when viewed from articles they write for. My main concern is that I can't find a clear editorial policy on the website. - Z-Gamer Guys (talk) 23:36, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
- Since you came across it looking for Kirby, I figured I'd search for "Kirby" first and see what was there. Here are the top 5 results returned (none for Kirby): "How to stream the best Oscar-nominated films in Canada", "These are the perfect games to play with your favorite little buddy" (which does mention Kirby), "10 body-positive books to read before making a weight-loss New Year's resolution", "7 genius closet organization ideas for men", "24 of the greatest TV shows and series to binge watch". About 20 results were returned, all of that nature. It is very difficult to see how we could find usable reliable articles in this mess. Many of the articles denote they are by freelance writers. It seems they mostly focused on finding freelance writes to work through StackCommerce, the parent company. Zero mention of editorial oversight. The bottom of the page denotes Products are chosen independently by our editors.. -- ferret (talk) 00:19, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
Find video game sources: "The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images · free news sources · TWL · NYT · WP reference · VG/RS · VG/RL · WPVG/Talk · LinkSearch · LinkTo Very reliable source, open access, but seemingly unknown to many maybe due to bad luck with SEO? I almost never see it used on Wikipedia as a source in VG articles, which IMHO is an unfortunate ommission. To be clear, the SFE, now it its 4th edition, used to be a paper encyclopedia, but has transitioned to an online, open access portal, updated every week with new entries (not sure how to categorize it in our subpage). See list of the titles covered here: [3], although noote that the category mixes video games with board games and like, and some entries are placeholders. For an example VG entry there, see https://sf-encyclopedia.com/entry/command_and_conquer . Worth adding a note that the entries are signed psedudonymously with initials, but can be decyphered into proper real names of reviewers using their list of contributors at [4]. Many contributors are academics. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:25, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
- I came across SFE through this a while back. I was intrigued and so started a discussion on the NPP Discord. The general consensus was that it is definitely reliable due to their authors being primarily academics. On my first visit to the website I mistook it for a forum, however I agree it is absolutely reliable and written by people at the top of their field. 11WB (talk) 06:40, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- Reliable if what is said is true about their contributors. Seems like a helpful overall source. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 03:49, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

Retro XP and The Famicast
[edit]I've got two retro-focused gaming sources that I believe have strong potential to be listed as reliable: Retro XP and The Famicast. My evidence for both sources is based less on having a clear editorial policy, but more on the individual writers and their background history writing for existing reliable sources. Neither is currently listed on WP:VG/S, but I think listing them would be helpful to those searching for retro gaming sources.
Retro XP

Retro XP originated as a Substack retro gaming newsletter by Marc Normandin. 1. This was moved to its own dedicated website (hosted on beehiiv) in January of 2025. Marc Normandin is a freelance writer and has written articles for multiple reliable media outlets. For Paste magazine, This is one he wrote as seen on the Kirby (character) article, and these are multiple others written by him. He has written for The A.V. Club, a general gaming reliable source here, continuing to write for both Paste and The A.V. Club. He has written one article for PC Gamer here, is an editor at FOX Sports, and serves as a major contributor (and possible owner) of Baseball Prospectus. Retro XP is just the dedicated website where he shares his thoughts on retro video games on his own time, and given his journalism record, I believe his writing can be used for video game articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Z-Gamer Guys (talk • contribs) 22:31, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

The Famicast is a website that has seperated itself from Nintendo World Report, a reliable source. Danny Bivens has reported on Japanese news and written many articles for Nintendo World Report (staff page), and many more that aren’t listed on the link. He is also an English teacher who resides in Japan, and he serves as the main host and editor. The co-host, James Charlton (staff page), also served as an editor at Nintendo World Report. Other contributors to The Famicast include Ty Shughart (staff page), a staff alumnus, and Sairus Delaney, who primarily contributes to The Famicast and has no staff profile on Nintendo World Report. It serves as an independent continuation of the podcast of the same name that was hosted on Nintendo World Report as seen here. The Famicast is where these former Nintendo World Report members are currently active, as they left the website to continue The Famicast independently in 2017. The final episode of The Famicast on Nintendo World Report announced its migration to the current website here, so this seems like an easy reliable source to confirm. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Z-Gamer Guys (talk • contribs) 22:31, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
Geek to Geek Media
[edit]This is a website I have come across whilst researching video game specific articles. They focus on tabletop gaming, video gaming, television and film. Some of their writers have written for established websites, such as the managing editor B.J Keeton, who is a writer for ScreenRant and independent writer Carrie Lambersten who is a senior writer for ScreenRant. ScreenRant is marginally reliable per RS/PS. Their writers also include authors such as Erik Slader, and notable podcasters such as Kenny Rotter. The others that make up their team are independent Twitch streamers and bloggers.
Something that struck me about the website is that whilst they do publish pieces from their community, these are marked as 'Geek Friends' articles, and not all are guaranteed to be published, which excludes it from being an outright WP:SPS. It should be noted that to date, only 2 of these types of articles have been published on their website and both are clearly bylined as being 'by Geek Friends
' (see this example).
Geek to Geek Media is currently only used as a source in 4 articles on Wikipedia, so a consensus is not a pressing matter, however I would be interested in some other opinions on whether it could be used. They strike as being similar, although not as large in scale as Destructoid. It obviously isn't reliable, but I think it would be fair to say they can be used if attributed for reception sections in articles, for example 'author name writing for Geek to Geek Media said...
'. I would say they are probably situationally reliable, with any 'Geek Friends' articles not being usable (even though they are "reviewed and edited by our editorial staff and content managers, and meet our high standards for games journalism and reviews
" - see this).
The website is well-made and the team appear to be very transparent about how they publish content on their site, so they have definitely earned my respect. 11WB (talk) 09:51, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- @11WB do they have a listed editorial byline or standards list? As it stands I'm leaning negatively toward this source right now, as Screen Rant is largely a content farm website, and it being on an author's credentials is significantly less impressive or noteworthy than a major outlet like IGN or Eurogamer. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 04:10, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- From what I can tell, all of their editorial processes and policies are summed up at the bottom of this page. The majority of their writers seem to have experience in areas such as podcasting and publishing. 11WB (talk) 04:17, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- Taking a recently published tabletop article, they do have a consistent byline. [5] 11WB (talk) 04:19, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- The bylines seem to indicate it's largely fan-run, and its few big names are either Valnet alums exclusively (Which isn't exactly a strong journalistic degree) or are for content production, not journalism. I'm admittedly not feeling like this one's meeting reliability very confidently. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 00:04, 23 December 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Source assessment/Mr. President! states that the PC Gamer and Kotaku pages on Mr. President! are reliable, but does not state that the Entertainment.ie source is reliable so i starting this discussion. ~2025-40346-02 (talk) 19:59, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

Saw their name being thrown around on social media recently, but I'm not fully convinced, so wanted to get others' thoughts. Not to be confused with Gaming Nexus, which is currently listed as unreliable. Has a website, but appears to be primarily video focused. Already in use on multiple articles. Includes an ethics page. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 01:16, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
