Changing Redirect

[edit]

I've changed the redirect to an article for the Frescobaldi Family rather then having "Frescobaldi" go to Girolamo Frescobaldi. The family is notable enough in their own right. Agne27 02:01, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You didn't move the Project banner though! ;-/ FlagSteward (talk) 01:41, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Which crusades?

[edit]

"The Frescobaldi were receivers of the customs of England from 1307, and also served as papal tax gatherers in England, helping to finance the Crusades."

The main crusades, the ones usually referred to as "the Crusades" were over by the early 14th century. What does this refer to? --Hegvald (talk) 10:07, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning promotional, LLM-generated changes to the article

[edit]

I randomly came across this page yesterday while reading about medieval England, and I noticed it didn't comply with Wikipedia's bold text usage. Reading further, the article appeared to be largely promotional, praising a wine business and its proprietor.

Investigating the revision history, it appears this is mostly down to this huge overhaul from March 2025, implemented by a user who has been blocked from editing for contributing only similarly promotional material. Unfortunately, technical reasons prevent the edit from simply being undone.

Large parts of this edit just rephrase, with less precision and clarity, but with a little more polish, what was there before; based on a number of tells, like the repetition of information, the florid, non-neutral language, and the very superficial and unsubstantiated analysis, I believe this was done with a generative Large Language Model. Many references that possess the semblance of legitimacy were removed in the process (see the diff linked above).

The subject of this article is well outside my area of interest and expertise, and I can't invest a bunch of time in meticulously restoring all that was there previously – much of which did not seem to be properly sourced in the first place. I've documented all the above in the hopes that a more interested editor will come along eventually and consider this a helpful jumping-off point.

Good luck!
