- Hmm...the main sources for the article seems to be a Facebook post from a friend of the family that merely says that he was on board as well as unnamed "officials." I'd personally wait for an official confirmation from named sources. Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 19:05, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- You are right. A previous revision of that article worded it as if it was the sheriff that confirmed it, but that has since been reworded. Ofoxu (talk) 19:07, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter if the originating source was a Facebook account. 1) It's the official Facebook account of the airport 2) its 2025 – it's very common for official bodies to announce via social media platforms as that's where more people will see it and 3) we have multiple news agencies running with the story that he's dead – so their news rooms have presumably independently confirmed it as legitimate. I really don't know what else you expect. A photo of a body? --Jkaharper (talk) 19:27, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

- "Statesville Regional Airport confirmed an "aircraft incident" at approximately 10:15 a.m. In a Facebook post, the airport said the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is en route and will lead the crash investigation." is the quote from the article. If you follow their link it goes to the official page for that airport. When did we decide that the independent judgement of a handful of editors as to whether he's dead or not is superior to MSNBC-affiliated journalists who have reported/confirmed it? This is rather silly. --Jkaharper (talk) 19:35, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- It looks like you're referring to a different statement than I was. I was referring to the post by Cleetus McFarland, which is the source given in the article linked to by Ofoxu. Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 19:43, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

Just a note for anyone to read!
[edit]These are my thoughts, since it appears many people wanted this article to be updated as soon as reports started coming out.
From my understanding, the reason Wikipedia editors wait for a reliable source to publish a confirmation is simply because Wikipedia itself does not want to be used as a source. If speculation and "reports" are the only source, people tend to go to the Wikipedia article to see what it says. Even if something is all but confirmed by reports, this should not be the confirmation. Ofoxu (talk) 19:50, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

- @DaneGeld The issue there is, how does the congressman know who was aboard? —C.Fred (talk) 20:11, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- I'm a bit more inclined to believe the People sourced seeing as how a congressional official (who is a family friend) confirmed the news. I'd rather have an official statement or something from the authorities confirmed it as well, but the People source is a good (tragic) indicator that within the hour we'll get an official confirmation from family/authorities that Biffle is among the deceased. TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 20:13, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- Official statements on Congresspeople's social media generally have to go through approvals by multiple staffers. Plus, as a Congressman, it's plausible (even likely) that Hudson would've been privately briefed by local authorities. I'm inclined to accept this as reliable personally. I think we're waiting on an official confirmation via family statement or from the authorities. TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 20:11, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

Richard Hudson, a family friend. “I am devastated by the loss of Greg, Cristina, and their children, and my heart is with all who loved them,” Hudson wrote on X on Thursday, Dec. 18. “They were friends who lived their lives focused on helping others. [edit]Can we apply WP:BLUE here? We have sources that state 2 crew and 4 passengers. We have sources naming the passengers, and we have sources that state all 6 died. Putting these together, we can categorically say that Biffle died in the accident. Mjroots (talk) 20:24, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

- Per what I said above I feel that the People source is good enough but it doesn't hurt to wait for an official confirmation from authorities. There's no need for Wikipedia to rush so quickly since we're not the news, but the People source is a good indicator that we might get a confirmation soon with Biffle indeed being among the deceased. - I think it's okay to change it now. — MysticCipher87(alt-account) (talk) 20:35, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- im still waiting myself for positive conformation of death. right now i think this is indeed a "the sky is blue" thing but we cant rush in guns blazing just yet Grumman F6F-5 (talk) 20:44, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- Per below, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol has confirmed his death. I think this is a good enough. TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 20:54, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- Article doesn't match the headline info. "However, NCSHP troopers only said that Biffle was believed to be among the seven victims, due to the ongoing identification process," is what I see in that article. Am I missing an update somewhere else on the page? --Onorem (talk) 20:57, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- If you watch the video at the NCSHP link, the trooper says "believed to be among" the victims. You're correct. Sinfonian (talk) 21:01, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

Edit request on reliable source for birthdate
[edit]A [citation needed] tag was inserted in his infobox in regard to his birthdate. Either of these sources below could be used. https://www.foxsports.com/nascar/greg-biffle-driver-bio
https://www.espn.com/racing/driver/stats/_/id/221/greg-biffle ~2025-38957-63 (talk) 00:55, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- The citation needed tag in the infobox was unnecessary. The date of birth is cited in the article text already, and the infobox summarizes the article text. - The Bushranger One ping only 02:30, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

KENNY WALLACE DID NOT DIE AND THE PAGE MAKES IT SOUND LIKE HE DID ~2025-42005-65 (talk) 09:48, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
Not done: If you look closely, the article says that Craig Wadsworth, a hauler driver of Kenny Wallace, died, not Kenny Wallace himself. Also, please don't shout. Chess enjoyer (talk) 10:09, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
