Hello! I am a current student at Texas A&M working on this article as part of an editing project. I just wanted to briefly describe some of the changes I am thinking about making to this article based on an initial appraisal. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, as I'm sure there are things that I've missed in my plan!

• Basic copyediting for style, tone, spelling and grammar.
• Small corrections for areas in violation of NPOV and NOR.
• Relocating Carson's appearances in literature to their own section.
• Slightly adjusting the order/flow of his 'personal life' section--for example, moving freemasonry after marriages.

These are just my initial ideas regarding this article. I would be grateful for any suggestions or comments about my plan! Kate Bridges (talk) 23:07, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and implemented my edits! They mostly consisted of the things I outlined, such as basic copyediting and corrections for instances of NPOV. I did not end up resituating Carson's appearances in literature to their own section, as they were too widely dispersed and that would have interrupted the chronological flow. I did end up changing the order of the legacy and personal life section subheadings in a way that I felt was a little more natural/comprehensible, prioritising their relevance to his life above all.

This article I feel would really benefit from some more screening for essay-like tone and NPOV. There are many instances of this that I'm sure I didn't catch, or that were too deeply interwoven to extricate from the text--if anyone is game for a little more editing.
