Question
[edit]Do covers inherit their parents genre? Say someone covered a country song, is that cover to be considered also a country song if no source comments on the genre? I ask because I know most things don't merit notability even if connected to something popular, but I've found it difficult sometimes to find sources that mention genres. Babysharkb☩ss2 I am Thou, Thou art I 19:16, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
- I don't see why covers shouldn't need any mention of their genre to be supported by reliable sources. One might reasonably infer that the cover is probably the same genre, but there's no guarantee of that. DonIago (talk) 19:24, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
- No, definitely not. Sometimes the whole purpose of covers are to perform songs in a completely different style from the original. For example, Richard Cheese's whole career is lounge music covers of metal, grunge, and rap songs that retain none of the style of the originals. "Down with the Sickness" is a metal song, no RS would ever describe Cheese's version as metal. Sergecross73 msg me 20:29, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
Songs about romance
[edit]Hey guys, I have created the category Songs about romance. I believe this is an important "songs by theme" category as many songs are about romance, however, there is no easy way to index them on Wikipedia. Subcats could include songs about infidelity, marriage, divorce, etc. Feel free to add this category to relevant songs. jolielover♥talk 16:11, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- It could be considered a bit broad. Category:Songs about love was deleted in a CfD and could serve as precedent. Those subcat suggestions wouldn't all necessarily be about romance, either. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 00:02, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- Songs about love was far too broad since there are different types of love - eg Lovin' You is about maternal love. This category is specifically about romantic love. The CfD has one person noting this, and that songs about romance would be more specific. I think that something categorizing all the romantic songs out there is good. Love song for instance is quite shabby. jolielover♥talk 05:33, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
- i agree,if a category was deleted for similar content its best to stay away from categories like that ~2025-31421-40 (talk) 07:47, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

- WP:NOTCENSORED. mftp dan oops 04:53, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
- There's three in the article, but I don't understand what you're alluding to with any of them. One is the cover art and the other two are pretty basic performance shots. What's the problem? Sergecross73 msg me 15:56, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
- My assumption is that they are implying the single image is a thirst trap. Be that it may to some opinions, it's literally the defining image used on the physical product. To suggest we remove what that product looks like because it might be... well, suggestive, isn't something we can entertain. As I said, Wikipedia is not censored. mftp dan oops 00:27, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
Would this qualify for one article or two?
[edit]Hello,
I am currently writing articles about "Enterlude" and "Exitlude", two songs that appear on the Killers' album Sam's Town. The first song is a mere 49 seconds and the latter is 2 minutes and 27 seconds, and together the two songs basically form one, causing a severe overlap of similarities between the two. Because these songs are so similar, would it be acceptable to form them together into one article with a name such as "Enterlude and Exitlude"?
Thanks, SassafrassAlabass (talk) 05:25, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, I'm skeptical about a 49-second song passing WP:NSONGS, but it's hard to tell without looking at the drafts to see how much content these articles would have separately. If both songs can be covered in articles that are longer than a few paragraphs and templates, then two standalone pages may be appropriate. Victor Lopes Fala!•C 15:11, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- I say try to write out the two seperately then write them together (do all this in your sandbox) then see which way you like beter ~2025-31421-40 (talk) 07:41, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
- yeah i think it might count as one. unless you were planning on making two seperate articles then i say go for it @Sassafrassalabass

Audio files
[edit]Think that audio files would be better in the infobox rather than standalone later down in the article. Have no idea how this might be done, but it would be a nice improvement. A point in the right direction towards our more technically minded collaborators would be appreciated. Ceoil (talk) 06:46, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
