To verify if Rafrye is a sockpuppet of indefinitely blocked user Mikemikev, banned for disruption at articles related to Race and Intelligence. Indicia per WP:DUCK strongly suggests that Rafrye is a sock of Mikemikev, the user registered shortly after several IP socks had been banned and the user is preoccupied with the same topics and has the same POV's as Mikemikev and the same style of posting - right down to using "boasian" as a pejorative and selfidentifying as a genetician.·Maunus·ƛ· 00:50, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

In all cases the editing patterns are identical to that of the indefinitely blocked user Mikemikev (talk · contribs). The second and third accounts have been blocked because they violated policy on usernames. The first account appeared today and was tentatively identified as Mikemikev by Maunus (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA).[1] Since being blocked, Mikemikev has also edited using UK IPs which have not been listed. Mathsci (talk) 18:17, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The first account has subsequently made the following vandalising edits to Hat, [2] Wall,[3] and Color, [4]. Mathsci (talk) 20:27, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Evidence submitted by Mathsci
[edit]

Since his community ban during WP:ARBR&I, later confirmed by ArbCom, Mikemikev has created a series of sockpuppet accounts, some of which have been overtly antisemitic and one of which targeted Slrubenstein (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA). Mikemikev edits from London. The IP above was used for a logged off edit of Oo Yun on the article Franz Boas. [5] The other edits of Oo Yun on Talk:Franz Boas have been antisemitic and highly problematic, with personal attacks on the three administrators intervening there (Dougweller and Maunus, in addition to Slrubenstein). The language used by Oo Yun in the edit summary of this diff [6] Nah, you're liars. Better to die than contribute to short term gangsterism. is similar to that used by Mikemikev, for example here [7] :I would rather die than be unblocked. The choice of article and the slurs by Oo Yun are consistent with the type of tendentious and highly offensive edits of Mikemikev that precipitated his ban. Huh? I don't know half of these usernames. Why would I make a sockpuppet with hundreds of History of Art edits (TisTRU), and then use a sockpuppet which I recently admitted was me (StudiousBob) to edit an article where I know the likes of Marginalia will be hiding under the nearest rock (nice work BTW sleuth!). I think you blocked some users from the Slade School of Fine Art, while you're playing Internet cowboy and "blocking" people. Perhaps using your brain may help? If I wanted to evade detection, wouldn't I use the account with which I hadn't recently announced the connection to 'mikemikev'? The incomptence and jumped up amateur dramatics of this place never cease to amuse me. It's funny to see how easy it would be to avoid detection if I actually bothered. BTW, watch how my edits stand. The problem is that commie scum like Marginalia "DON'T LIKE THE TRUTH!" Seeya. Mikemikev2 (talk) 13:02, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to be British and trolling, using the same overtly racist lines of argument as Mikemikev [9]. (BT=British Telecom seems likely.) Some time would be probably be saved for checkusers and other editors if the talk pages of Talk:Race (classification of humans) and Talk:Race and intelligence were semiprotected for longer periods against IPs and non autoconfirmed accounts. (Note that revert warring on the latter by anon IPs has already required admin intervention under WP:ARBR&I.[10]) Mathsci (talk) 06:08, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the suggestion that the project would be helped if those talk pages were semiprotected. Even at that, they must be vigilantly watched for efforts to undo the ArbCom decision related to those pages. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 23:58, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting to note that User:Mathsci judged this case and found BT35 guilty without the formality of an investigation. He has displayed an astonishing zeal in labelling alleged socks of this user such as 124.115.214.202, 166.111.120.63, 128.40.189.186, 86.189.26.144, Frostbite Alan2, Frostbite Alan3, Frostbite Alan, In with the old, TohsTogNeroc, 86.189.18.110, Frank Dickman, 86.177.2.57, Juden Raus, Grinkagronk and Suarneduj. It is very nice of him to act as clerk for these SPI, but this is hardly the behaviour of someone who is anxious to disengage from the WP:BATTLEGROUND over Race articles. It looks more like gloating over his defeated enemies to me. However, it is of more concern to see that in his amateur SPI detective role, Mathsci has actually impersonated an admin, leaving a bogus block message with a fake signature here. It seems clear that in spite of his avowed intention to disengage from these topics, he is lurking on controversial race-related pages and tagging anyone who expresses an opinion he dislikes as a racist sock of his adversary. Of course BT35 may be Mikemikev irrespective of what Mathsci chooses to think. 212.183.140.59 (talk) 12:42, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
He didn't impersonate me- he helped me. I had justed blocked the obvious mikemikev sock but forgot to leave the message. - He should probably not technically have copyed my signature - but I appreciate his help anyway.·Maunus·ƛ· 15:03, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Maunus put the block message on the user page instead of the user talk page, so I just copied it to the user talk page. [11][12] I assumed that Maunus would not mind this very minor transfer and am happy that that was the case. Mathsci (talk) 20:31, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I second the suggestion for longer if not permanent semi-protection. Churning is debilitating. PЄTЄRS J VЄСRUМВАTALK 20:58, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And now Mathsci appears to have decided that 212.183.140.59 must also be Mikemikev without benefit of any kind of investigation, just because they dared to criticise him. His behavior in connection with this banned user is now quite disruptive. 212.183.140.36 (talk) 22:16, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The IP above 212.183.140.36 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) from Harrow has been used in the past by someone editing in the area of Race and intelligence. It's quite possible that these are edits from someone on a Christmas-New Year break. Mathsci (talk) 22:22, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This one doesn't sound like Mikemikev to me-for one thing, the two sound a bit different when they try to insult or intimidate me. (He's probably followed Tholzel here, perhaps from one of the innumerable "pure race rights" internet gathering places where quote mined and spin-synthed bits of Cavalli-Sforza, Dawkins, Nei and Roychoudhury are featured elements in the remaking and recycling of race myths. And he probably had prior experience editing before assuming this identity. It could be he sounds like Mikemikev because they're both products of the same "white race rights" internet culture.) The topic attracts p'd off pov-pushers here to right-great-wrongs. Mathsci has a small handful of revengeful stalkers eager to t' him off. Several topic banned editors have resorted to socking, meatpuppetry, canvassing, open proxy ip and complementary wi-fi itinerancy and all the rest. I really don't understand why much volunteer time should be diverted to arriving at the most accurate diagnosis of transparently disruptive editors. BT35 obviously qualifies to one of them. Professor marginalia (talk) 07:14, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes on looking more carefully, that seems correct. The styles do not match. Mikemikev noticed the misidentification by Vecrumba, with which I initially agreed. He then thought he could profit from it by pointing this out. However, he revealed himself by attacking me and not Vecrumba. As noted on ANI, the Vodaphone proxy IPs have previously been used for disruption on articles related to R&I, and Mikemikev was undoubtedly the culprit.
There is nothing more that needs to be done here. Thanks to checkusers for their continuing help. Mathsci (talk) 09:19, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First of all the IP left these messages identifying himself as Mikemikev on User talk:LessHeard vanU [13] and on WP:ANI [14]. I reverted both messages at 18:54, with WP:DENY in the edit summaries. Shortly after 19:00 BT35 restored both messages with the edit summary "WP:GIT" (git being a British insult). [15] [16] Per WP:DUCK, this seems to confirm that, however Mikemikev is accessing WP, BT35 is a sockpuppet and so probably should be blocked indefinitely. (BT35 just came off a 48 hour block today.) Mathsci (talk) 18:54, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

@ HelloAnnyong: yes, the evidence that they are the same user seems fairly overwhelming given the timing, the nature of the edits and their content, and the insult. I requested a checkuser simply because the IP is probably the same for both (I did not initiate the previous request). However, given the increased activity of Mikemikev over the last 48 hours, I understand that this places too much of a burden on CU. As you suggest, since WP:DUCK seems to apply here, it would be helpful to block the account BT35 just to avoid future disruption. Thanks for your speedy reply, 19:16, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
...and LHVU has already blocked BT35 indefinitely, so the problem is solved and no further action is required. Thanks again, Mathsci (talk) 19:18, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This user is clearly not noew to wikipedia and has admitted that he has created a new user to be able to edit the controversial area of Race and intelligence.[17] As there are several accounts that are blocked and topicbanned form that area it is relevant to know if this account is ban evading. • Comment Sock Puppetry is the abuse, not use of alternate accounts. Per WP:SOCK#LEGIT, "A person editing an article which is highly controversial within his/her family, social or professional circle, and whose Wikipedia identity is known within that circle, or traceable to their real-world identity, may wish to use an alternative account to avoid real-world consequences from their editing or other Wikipedia actions in that area." No evidence of abuse has been given, and Maunus admits that this complaint has been raised solely because he disagrees with the presumed point of view of Rrrrr5. He has no reason to suppose that there is a connection to Mikemikev, and indeed has a history of accusing the latter of ban violations which have later proved groundless by ArbCom (see for example [18]). Now he resorts to Fishing to get his way. This is Wikipedia:Harassment, and conduct highly unbecoming a moderator.
Maunus complains that he needs to be able to raise these complaints to "tidy up this particular corner". Perhaps his time would be better allotted elsehwere? Holding Ray (talk) 06:53, 30 April 2011 (UTC) indefinitely blocked sockpuppet account[reply]
Nonsense, block evasion is abusive use of multiple accounts, and so is POV-pushing. I have never given any statement of whether or not I personally agree with any viewpoint. I do think my time is better allotted elsewhere as Wikipedia aparrently have little concern for whether their coverage of sensitive issues such as race is infected with politically motivated sockpuppets, meatpuppets and other puppets clearly working together through illicit means. Indeed I expect you will be seeing much less of me over the coming months, as this is simply not an enjoyable work environement and I can find better ways to spend my time off wiki. I hope you'll enjoy your time here at the wiki, how good of you to use your third edit as a registered user to make personal attacks and assumptions of bad faith against an another editor. A good day to you sir. ·Maunus·ƛ· 12:01, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment @Holding Ray, it would be odd that a new editor (you) immediately launches into WP:ALPHABETSOUP as soon as they start editing on WP unless they were here before and editing in a contentious environment. Perhaps you need to be checked as well given your attack mentality here citing (appropriately wiki-linked) harassment and fishing. I have seen no reason to consider Maunus acting in bad faith at the R&I topics. Can this request be expanded to check Holding Ray? (That would be versus the editors mentioned.) Thank you. PЄTЄRS J VTALK 20:14, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

:*By all means check. I used to edit under another name, but none of those listed here, and I am not evading any blocks or bans. I am not suggesting that Maunus is acting in bad faith at R&I, but I am suggesting that his behaviour at this page is inappropriate. • I don't see what your rush is to convict Maunus, if there's no CU confirmation this matter is closed. Certainly one has to wonder about the editor's first choice of edit. One of the legitimate uses of alternate accounts is privacy when editing controversial topics. Do you have any evidence that this is a user avoiding their block? TNXMan 16:26, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, no direct evidence. Only the fact that he enters into an ongoing discussion from the same POV and with simlar editing style as some of the above editors, and that editors editing from that viewpoint have frequently used sock and meatpuppets disruptively in the past. If it is a fact that it is a legitimate to use sock accounts for pov-pushing in controversial areas for "privacy" reasons, then I am going to have to reconsider whether my time spent in trying to tidy up this particular corner of the project is well allotted. That would seem to give a carte blanche to use sock puppets for promoting controversial and fringy topics that one does not wish to have associated with one's main account.·Maunus·ƛ· 01:38, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

QuintupleTwist edits in a similar way to Mikemikev, primarily pushing race as a biological concept on the same narrow set of articles, making very few article edits and arguing in an unhelpful way on article talk pages. Recently Maunus performed a 3 month self-block and QuintupleTwist almost immediately made a radical change to the lede of Race (classification of humans) in accordance with his biological point of view. He has restored that lede twice. At the same time a confirmed ipsock of Mikemikev 86.180.46.1 [19] trolled ANI in a thread started by Maunus only hours after the first IP 94.116.41.96 announced Maunus' self-block, also in a trolling way. Maunus has repeatedly blocked IP socks of Mikemikev and has frequently been trolled on articles and talk pages by IP socks and sockpuppet accounts of Mikemikev. For these reasons I suspect that QuintupleTwist may be yet another sockpuppet of Mikemikev. Mathsci (talk) 12:54, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nam84 is evidently not a new user. He started editing highly tendentiously as soon as the account was created and was blocked for edit warring. The highly circular mode of argumentation on Talk:J. Philippe Rushton seems similar to Mikemikev: an attempt to wind another user up by repeatedly making fallacious claims with comments that verge on personal attacks. The spelling is British ("behaviour"). The IP, perhaps posting from a cybercafé in London, appears to have attempted to cover their edits to an WP:ARBR&I related user talk page by making superficial edits to an article previously edited by the same IP. Unfortunately that was over one year ago. Mathsci (talk) 04:05, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Account name similar to other named socks of Mikemikev. From the name, the account was created specifically to troll on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lewontin's Fallacy (cf Richard Lewontin). Other ipsocks of Mikemikev have commented there. Mikemikev is having a period of hyperactivity at the moment. Mathsci (talk) 16:31, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Maunus blocked Dicky Fallacy as a sock of Mikemikev after he made three further edits. In one he repeated the same comment as one of the vodafone ip socks. He then, in typical Mikemikev style, copied my annotation as an SPA and probable sock of Mikemikev. His last trolling edits changed Lewontin to Lewontwin in Lewontin's Fallacy, again more trolling/vandalsim. All this is extra confirmation, if it was needed. Here is the record from her admin log: "09:19, 3 March 2011 Shell Kinney (talk | contribs) blocked 212.183.140.0/26 (talk) (anon. only, account creation blocked) with an expiry time of 3 months ‎ ({{checkuserblock}})" Mathsci (talk) 00:42, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's hard to know what to make of these edits, but there is an antisemitic side, a blatant pushing of outdated race issues, plus a targeting or trailing of Maunus (who has been fixing up edits by Ephert (talk · contribs)). The blatant copyvios on images on Commons, which I have listed for speedy deletion there, are not quite what I would expect. So there is the additional possibility that this disruptive user could be a new sock of some other banned user, such as Jagz. All their edits seem dubious. The editing of Yfever is odd for several reasons.

  • Despite claiming to be a new user, his editing started with New Zealand sports figures, then moved quickly to the New Zealand expert in psychometry James R. Flynn: after that the editing shifted rapidly to editing almost solely in R&I related topics, touching exactly the same issues that started WP:ARBR&I.
  • Yfever copy-pasted the lede of User:Ephery/How Much Can We Boost IQ and Scholastic Achievement?, a deleted fork later placed by PhantomSteve in the user space of topic-banned user David.Kane, as the lede of a second article.[45] No new user would be aware that an article already existed with that title and would be aware that it had been placed in the userspace of David.Kane. Yfever has even left a message on the talk page of the subpage.[46] New parts of the article have subsequently been copy-pasted by Yfever from History of the race and intelligence controversy. This was exactly how the previous fork was created.
  • Yfever has also been editing Compensatory education with intervening edits by an IP 129.31.242.224 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) from Imperial College London: I was not aware of those IP edits on 5 January, but edits of that kind, from that point of view and from that location have always been by Mikemikev.

I cannot tell for sure at present whether Yfever is a sockpuppet of Mikemikev, but he is evidently not a new user and the intersecting edits with a Mikemikev ipsock on Compensatory education. a little visited article, are grounds for suspicion. (Mikemikev in the past—for example with QuintupleTwist— has created sockpuppets that took some time to identify.) Mathsci (talk) 07:10, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The editing involves a copyvio file, that an editor with the same username has added on Commons. The name of this account was also a clue. Mathsci (talk) 07:09, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Much worse than ever before: it almost beggars belief. By accident, when searching on the web for the editorial duties of Slrubenstein for the article Steven Rubenstein, I discovered this external posting by Mikemikev.[52] Mikemikev then several hours later added the same material to the wikipedia article, not once, but twice. Usual article, identical edits [53] to previous set of ipsocks from ICL.[54] The usual trolling edit summaries have now been supplemented by a trolling message on the user page. Looking at the edits again, I am not 100% sure here. The racist and homophobic abuse matches that of Mikemikev, but he has not previously used instant messenger language on WP. The account name also seems to have been created with a particular article in mind (the one he has edited). These IPs adopt the usual tone of Mikemikev and appear to involve his use yet again of proxies IPs in the Far East. The three IPs posted on Talk:Race and intelligence, so perhaps, after dealing with the proxies, that talk page could be semiprotected. Mathsci (talk) 19:01, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A fourth IP added with a vile posting typical of Mikemikev: similar to his postings after the death of Slrubenstein in March. A creep. Mathsci (talk) 12:51, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This image diff [63] is typical of Mikemikev. Here is another instance where Mikemikev used exactly the same image as a sockpuppet (BT35, an account that took a long time to uncover).[64]
Some of the IP socks from March involving Slrubenstein were here[65] The Slr videos were oversighted; they involved a tiny folk violin, so had the same level of mock emotion. There is no doubt that BT35 was Mikemikev. The hopping about between far eastern IPs is another of his games and was analysed on the evidence page in the May review. Mathsci (talk) 21:04, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The first IP has posted again and has now been blocked by FPaS. His previous edits cover the R&I article and the Race (human classification) article; he was blocked for leaving a trolling message on the AE page (in the same spirit as the crying baby image). That ties up the postings mentioned by me above as well as those mentioned below by Professor marginalia. Mathsci (talk) 12:44, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mikemikev's edited with a variety of Asian IPs and created four socks from insults translated into Korean.(User:수학 과학은 거대한 게이입니다, User:스토킹, User:유태인 아웃, User:이방인 얼라이언스. He's offensively trolled in similar fashion as recently with the image: [66]. He also formerly misrepresented very same claim from The Ancestor's Tale as the IP has just now: [67], [68], [69]. I "misrepresented" The Ancestor's Tale saying race is of taxonomic significance, by reporting it as saying race is of taxonomic significance? This user's seemingly minimally inconvenienced by targeted blocking specific IPs. And his disruptions can be insidious. He doesn't consistently make himself obvious via the abusive and racially charged temperamental type outbursts. It's his "under the radar" editing that has led to the more significant, longer term disruptive crazy time sinks around here.
The more users that acquire a familiarity with his voice, his edit history, the better wp's facility to pull the plug on these more insidious, protracted disruptions. I don't know how else to facilitate this except by recording these suspect IPsocks to the appropriate category. This isn't the perfect tool because I don't think he's necessarily apt to reuse those specific IPs in some distant future-but his sock category page is the best resource available to editors trying to evaluate what's up with new suspects flashing warning signs. Given there's not much an admin can "fix" by reporting his (obvious to me) IP socks here, I've been conflicted about wasting admin time sign posting the socks interferences here versus just letting other processes "weed them out" such as keyword bots or natural death via talk page. But given signs Mikemikev's gonna play this game forever, I now think it may waste more time in the long run if these such socking instances aren't recorded here even while I acknowledge admins can't cure the problem here. Is it possible this isn't Mikemikev? I can find nothing "vile" about the statements of the latest added IP* - although pictorally likening one or more of the AE parties to a whinging toddler was a bit rude - whereas MM's edits at the time of SLR's death were indeed vile and creepy and revision deleted as far as I recall. *I disagree with them, but can't see the vileness --Elen of the Roads (talk) 16:18, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not a CU, but I checked. In short, I've applied some aggressive page protection except at Arb, which they can do themselves if it is needed. Account edit-warring on usual articles targeted by Mikemikev, particularly Race (human classification). The latest edits[73] add identical text on "cluster analysis" and the genome project HUGO as that added by a previous ipsock of Mikemikev, editing from Imperial College London. Suspected sockpuppets

An account created recently with the sole purpose of edit warring on Race and genetics, an article covered by WP:ARBR&I.[89][90][91] Previous sockpuppets, most notably Dicky Fallacy (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki), have argued in the same way about Richard Lewontin and Anthony Edwards, author of an article called Lewontin's Fallacy. The most recent sock of Mikemikev to edit Race and genetics was BanjoBruce (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki), cf [92]. In addition the account writes in British English, eg "colour".[93] So large amounts of WP:DUCK, despite the attempts to use inverted commas in edit summaries and talk comments. Suspected sockpuppets

Recently created account. All four articles are associated with R&I and have been previously edited by socks of Mikemikev. The account edited logged off from an IP in China, which has been confirmed as an open proxy on WP:OP (by both Spitfire and Sailsbystars) and blocked by Materialscientist for two years.[94] The timing of the creation of this account has been slightly confused by the block of the range 101.0.71.0/24, which has resulted in two postings using two other open proxies. In the second posting the user, previously editing in the blocked range, stated that he was not editing using the account PsychKitten.[95] I am requesting CU because the first edit to Franz Boas was made a week previously just after the creation of the account and was probably made using a different IP. Mathsci (talk) 09:58, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The account has made further edits today[96] so, considering that the open proxy they used previously has been hard blocked for two years, they must be using a different IP or proxy. I have tagged their user page as a suspected sockpuppet of Mikemikev. Mathsci (talk) 10:07, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Shortly after the PsychKitten edit, Mikemikev edited the same talk page[97] using a Korean IP. 112.160.35.80 (talk+ · tag · contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RBLs · proxy check · block user · spi block · block log · cross-wiki contribs · CheckUser (log))
It is also worth remembering that the banned user Ferahgo the Assassin used IPs in China for operating the sock account Zeromus1, so that is another possibility. Mathsci (talk) 10:14, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Elockid has already run the checks and confirmed on his talk page[98] that PsychKitten and the ip were Mikemikev. Both accounts are now blocked and tagged. Thanks for your help, Mathsci (talk) 16:37, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Clerk endorsed I'm interested to get a checkuser's perceptive on this. It may be that you find nothing linking this account to any others, as it's possible he's used a single proxy (202.105.113.132) exclusively for this account. However, it may be that there are other accounts created by him on this proxy, or there may be something else in the results that might help to indicate whether this user is linked to Mikemikev, the 101.0.71.0/24 IP hopper, or Echigo mole. (in any case, an admin is welcome to block the account, given the obvious socking and obvious use of a proxy to evade blocks) SpitfireTally-ho! 11:23, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Recently created account with exactly the editing profile of Mikemikev (race differences, antisemitism, ect). This latest edit[99] adds material previously inserted on multiple occasions by sockpuppets of Mikemikev to Race (human classification). On the article talk page he gives similar arguments.[100] It's the usual article, combined with Holocaust denial and other edits with an antisemitic agenda.[101] (He has previously added content related to Kevin B. MacDonald.) The comments to Dougweller are also typical.[102] Mathsci (talk) 06:57, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In practice, with disruptive socks like this one, the most efficient way of dealing with them is to file a report on WP:AN or WP:ANI after filing a report here. That is how this account was blocked. The last checkuser case was far more complicated than RichWales gives credit for, since PsychKitten first edited using an open proxy from China but made later edits which were probably from the usual IP ranges in Seoul. That information is useful for checkusers. Mikemikev has never had a history of sleeping socks and these reports are never made for that reason. Intervening sockpuppetry since the last report has required oversight of outing edits on WP:ANI (Alison did that) and on the Vietnamese, Japanese, Russian and Korean wikipedias (Philippe Beaudette of WMF did that).  Clerk declined. A CU was done on this sockmaster recently — and given that the new sock has already been indef-blocked, and without more evidence now of more than one new sock, I'm skeptical that a CU would be worth doing. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 01:53, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Clerk note: The last CU was done 18:09, 1 March 2013 (UTC) by DoRD (at least in the archive). UltimateBoss's first edit was 13:44, 14 April 2013 (UTC), so they wouldn't have been picked up by a sleeper check if one had been run. I agree that without evidence that sleepers are likely, a CU isn't justified, but wanted to clear up that the last CU wouldn't be a basis for the decision as there is no possible overlap in times. UltimateBoss was blocked as a confirmed sock of Mikemikev on April 24. On April 25, ApeMixDiversity was created and their first four edits proceeded to push an extreme combative view on race (human classification) (a favorite page of UltimateBoss) and to reproduce an entry on Frankfurt School twice which was almost identical to an edit made by Ultimateboss. In such few edits I think we have enough to call this one on WP:DUCK. Cheers! Coffeepusher (talk) 19:37, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The three edits to the Talk:Race (classification of humans) return to usual themes of Mikemikev about Lewontin, Dawkins and Edwards [107][108] (cf the sockpuppet User:SusanKravitz [109]). The username starts off like a recent sock UltimateBoss (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki). The link in the first posting[110] is to a thread on an external website in which Mikemikev later participated.[111] The username, the links to external blogs, the trolling tone, the bolding of text and use of phrases like "Marxist pseudoscientist" are typical of Mikemikev. First two are connected through Race (human classification) and the related discussion here. Kobayashi has been on this page for at least a month and a half, and has been blocked for it at least once. In a recent discussion on a different page, Kobayashi accused others of stonewalling, and was indef blocked as a result of this AN/I discussion. SpaceBobber's first edit (see contribs here, they're not that long and I want to go to sleep instead of copying diffs) is reporting User:Maunus and User:BlackHades for stonewalling on the first mentioned page, who Kobayashi was fighting with on, and posting notifications on their talks with deceptive edit summaries. I note that User:Johnuniq noted his suspicion of SpaceBobber as a sock on the NPOV noticeboard, and Maunus has noted the similarities to User:Mikemikev. SpaceBobber is connected to GreenLighterSam, because when I opened an AfD on the articles GLS recently created (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of American fraudsters of Jewish descent), it was SpaceBobber who responded aggressively at the discussion - GLS seems like a throwaway account. The discussion turned out that the article had been created by a User:MelangePasty (who is also indeff'd), and was deleted; see this AN/I discussion for more info. MelangePasty was mentioned in a previous SPI for Mikemikev.

So, to summarize: K245 (indeff'd) and SB are linked by Race (human classification), which seems like a typical Mikemikev hangout. SB is linked to GLS by List of American fraudsters of Jewish descent, and both are linked to probable Mikemikev sock MP because it had been already created by them.

I'd say, quack quack; requesting CU for sleepers.

Sorry for the lack of diffs, it's 4 here and I really need to go to sleep. I hope the links I have are enough. If any of the people I've hopefully pinged want to contribute, please do. Ansh666 12:16, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So, just to clarify: Kobayashi245 is indeff'd, MelangePasty is indeff'd, and GreenLighterSam is now indeff'd in the first case I've seen of an account being blocked for a SPI where no clerk or CU has commented yet. That leaves SpaceBobber, who hasn't posted in ~12 hours, if I can do math, and sleepers. Ansh666 00:19, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A CU on Melange did find the account to be a possible match in addition to the behavioral evidence pointing to it as a sock of Mikemikev. SpaceBobber's behavior seems indistinguishable from Melange and has a similar style to Mikemikev. SpaceBobber taking two editors to the NPOV noticeboard is a good indicator of someone experienced with Wikipedia. It is a good idea to run a check just to make sure he does not have any other little socks lurking around here.--The Devil's Advocate tlk. cntrb. 22:14, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Within a few minutes the Ip which geolocates to Korea and has previously trolled my talkpage and made minor edits related to Jews, attempted to troll me at talk:English language[141] (his comments are sarcastically making an analogy between language diversity and genetic diversity - and he is quite, rightly, pointing out that it is a little ironic that I don't mind making linguistic taxonomies by dividing languages into semiarbitrary groups but would not accept a similar approach to genetic diversity - race as a genetic construct is of course Mikemikev's perennial obsession) and Sombe19 made several edits to Eugenics[142] adding citation tags to edits I've made (the tags were justified). The coincidence in timing and interaction patterns, makes me think it is the same user - Mikemikev again, even though I had previously discarded the idea that Sombe19 is him ·maunus · snunɐɯ· 01:52, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The latest edits do not seem to be in Mikemikev's style.[148][149][150] The long thought-train tl;dr walls of text are out of character; they are also written in American English ("favor", "color", "hypothesized") with a non-characteristic use of ampersands (&). Mikemikev last edited Talk:Caucasian race as User:SamOrange. At that stage his edits came from South Korea; since then he has moved back to the UK, where he has so far only apparently edited with a British Telecom IP. [151] The two sets of edits connected to Mercer Island do not chime with Mikemikev's style and suggest local knowledge (the use of the abbreviation MI in an edit summary[152]). Mathsci (talk) 07:21, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. The topics all match though (Marx, race, genetics, Manaus). Perhaps intentional changes to style? Or perhaps one of the other dozen sockers that troll race/genetics? I'm convinced it is a sock and mikemikev made the most sense given the topics. EvergreenFir (talk) Please {{re}} 07:31, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that it might be a sockpuppet. But this is not the first time there have been anti-Marxist rants on Talk:Caucasian race by other users, e.g. [153][154] Not all of these are Mikemikev. Mathsci (talk) 07:41, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I would request that my edits are not reverted until proper evidence of sockpuppetry has been proven. My "rant" was not anti-Marxist, but only in reference for the sociological desire for denial of even biological race as population grouping, as not all Humans are of the same lineage & heritage, as Marxism has influenced sociology to what I would subjectively argue is an undue extent. Humans should be treated equally, but are not all of the same heritage. Such is denied in an effort to deny the possibility of racism, moreso institutionalized racism or racism by individual or non-governmental group action. Lest I digress, I do believe that I had a couple of accounts to which the passwords I had forgotten, no E-mail attached for recovery, many years ago--perhaps ten or so. I have not edited Wikipedia since. This account is not a sockpuppet, and my comments are perhaps evidence to some truth about user Manaus. I ask that this be taken seriously. Reading about Meatpuppetry, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sock_puppetry#Meatpuppetry, I also would like to state that I came to my opinion about User:Maunus based upon my own independent observations of his edits & comments over the past months. Comparing to past socks Captain JT Verity MBA (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) and Zhang500 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). Same talk page response style of quoting others and them replying on next line (e.g., [155], [156]). Heavy focus on Race (human categorization) (see AE request for full diffs related to that page).

Referencing all the same authors (Tiny Dancer, Captain). Comments about the AAA board and Lewontin (Zhang500, Tiny Dancer, Tiny Dancer).

Mikemikev is a known socker who perseverates on race and makes multiple accounts. Asking for CU evidence and sleeper check. EvergreenFir (talk) 18:35, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:User:KrakatoaKatie blocked him for 48 hours for personal attacks. Immediately afterwards TD posts ":::Bye for now US kike slave. Tiny Dancer 48 (talk) 18:59, 20 September 2016 (UTC)"[157] and after that "oh no I used an "ethnic slur" while kikes demonize and genocide whites". I've blocked him indefinitely. So far as I'm concerned that's pretty good evidence this is Mikemikev. Doug Weller talk 19:24, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the behavioral evidence. Sorry I didn't do the indef at first. As soon as I did the 48 hours I changed my mind, then got called away and meant to come back to it. Thanks to Doug and Drmies for fixing it. Katietalk 20:09, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A new account has popped up today at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cold winters theory to not only contest @Maunus:'s Afd but also profess that he knows the "history" of the nominator -- despite the fact that this account was created today. So clearly he's been around, in some guise. I realize this isn't the strongest behaviourial evidence and my efforts to find something more specific have not yet been successful. Still, this new SPA has been disruptive and behaves with a familiarity with the nominator and past knowledge of events that suggests to me something isn't right. With no meaningful edits elsewhere, David Mendlesohn arrived on Talk:Race (human categorization) and immediately started making the same arguments that the banned user Mikemikev always does, using many of the same terms. See here for his comments to date and compare especially to here. While he's only posted a little so far, I think there's enough to justify starting a sockpuppet investigation:

  • What particularly caught my eye here was his somewhat out-of-the-blue swipe at Keita, who Mikemikev has singled out for criticism here on another alt (Cadada, in that case.)
  • Also, in the same diff, note the nearly-identical argument about people holding their views for "especially career development reasons" here vs. "maybe your career depends on pushing this stuff" here.
  • Focusing on arguments over race as an infrasubspecific grouping as defined by the ICZN, here vs here and here.
  • Harsh criticism of the term 'essentialist' (a common way of delimiting views on race), here vs. here - a SPI was never completed on that user since it's so stale, but I think it's clear enough (eg. usual fixation on "Lewontin's fallacy", which is a fairly obscure term.) I do not think that this is Mikemikev. The reference to a posting of ArtifexMayhem (17 February 2015) in one of the diffs was to comments in response to 24.44.181.147 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). That IP was blocked as an ipsock of banned user Tholzel (talk · contribs). That North American IP is from the same ISP as the current IP, continues the same narrative, so is almost certainly Tholzel and not Mikemikev, who currently uses either London University IPs or café internet providers, such as Cloud. In reviewing Wikipedia:Long-term_abuse/Mikemikev, this seems like a DUCK to me. I'd ask for CU, but I don't know if there are any fresh enough socks to compare to (certainly not in the SPI archive).

This user's first edit was on Talk:Race_and_intelligence#Mainstream_view_in_biology, a perennial haunt of Mikemikev. In it, the user complains about strawmen, "voting", and sociologists. I'll provide diffs momentarily. EvergreenFir (talk) 18:05, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

SDPhelps wrote:

"The current mainstream view in the social sciences and biology is that race is a social construction based on folk ideologies that construct groups based on social disparities and superficial physical characteristics." This is referenced to a 2008 article. This is surely a question of fact, not voting? Race as used by the people these people seek to strawman is defined by shared ancestry rather than superficial characteristics, as it always was, from Blumenbach through Darwin. No amount of voting can change that. Where in the article does it say most biologists agree with this? Most sociologists might, but it is really not their field (needless to say they are all wrong, it is not a matter of opinion).

This closely matches the comments of past socks. Compare this to:

(edit conflict) Not a bad excuse. The block log will have something in it in generally two circumstances: if the block occurred from an SPI, or if I block a sock of an LTA outside a case and don't want to tag, I often put the master's name in the block form.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:38, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I was recently emailed about a Mikemikev sock-puppet. Mikemikev has a long history of trolling the Race (human categorization) talk-page arguing with other editors [208]. ‎ For example, he did that on his account Mbutu Collins and many others going back years. The talking points on Redundant Farmhand seem to match what Mikemikev has written on many of his other socks such as Mbutu Collins. He seems to have an obsession with defending pseudoscientific race ideas of Blumenbach [209] compared to [210] and [211]. He does that on three accounts Redundant Farmhand and Retired Farmer and Beet Farmer which match edits made on Mbutu Collins. Psychologist Guy (talk) 23:47, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

On an un-related note an IP [212] in this edit [213] has stated that BerlinburgerTor is a sock of Mikemikev. But this is only a suspicion. I do not list it above because the other accounts (Redundant Farmhand, Retired Farmer) there is much stronger behavioural evidence they are Mikemikev. I was recently emailed by someone who has been looking out for Mikemikev socks on Wikipedia. I filed a previous SPI against Mikemikev last month. He was on the account Redundant Farmhand arguing about race on the Race (human categorization) talk-page. He was blocked on the 14 February.

I believe the information I received is accurate that Angillo and Spork Wielder are socks of Mikemikev. This user has a long history of editing the Race and intelligence and History of the race and intelligence controversy talk-pages on short-lived accounts.

Mikemikev has a long history going back years of editing the Race and intelligence article on different socks. Spork Wielder and Angillo use the exact same writing style and arguments of Mikemikev. Spork Wielder was a single purpose throwaway account. Angillo joined Wikipedia only yesterday to continue where Spork Wielder left off. As another use noted Angillo is merely re-initiating the same discussion as the one Spork Wielder had made above on the race and intelligence talk-page [216]. Mikemikev has had hundreds of socks. I think the admins must be aware of what his arguing style is about race. The behavior on both accounts ticks all the boxes that this is Mikemikev. DUCK on behavior. Brand new accounts going right for Talk:Race and intelligence and using words like "ethnomarxist". Last Mikemikev sock on that page was blocked just a few weeks ago. CU requested for confirmation EvergreenFir (talk) 17:50, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

+1 to this. I was coming here to file the same request. Not just a DUCK in terms of tone, content and rhetorical strategy, but I've also noticed some similar speech patterns between this account and Mikemikev's most recent proven sock Spork Wielder, e.g. the use of "nonsense". See e.g. [217] versus [218]. Generalrelative (talk) 19:57, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A brand new editor jumps into mikemike's favorite article to hurl abuse and accusations all around. And worst of all; incompetently stealing my jokes. @Doug Weller: I looked at the single contribution of Jimmy Croquette [227] and noticed a suspicious similarity with a comment by Markbassett at Talk:Race and intelligence just a few hours prior: [228]. Note: 1) the use of "Cheers" by both accounts, and 2) that Jimmy Croquette appears to be referring to the same RfC where Markbassett is in the extreme minority, and that Jimmy Croquette is pushing essentially the same position. I'm not suggesting that this is a slam dunk by any means (really, the main clue is "Cheers"), but perhaps worth check-user? If they are indeed the same person it would be especially serious because Markbassett is an extended-confirmed account. If both are Mikemikev it would mean that this notorious sockmaster has been using a "legit" account for many years. Generalrelative (talk) 19:28, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've had quite a few run-ins with Markbassett over the years. He's often borderline (and sometimes fully) incoherent. He always supports conservative/religious/right-wing positions, and to the best of my recollection, is always civil and frequently stops responding if he seems to be losing an argument.
I can say that, in my experience, Markbassett and Mikemikev do not behave alike. However, I would add that, were a person like Mikemikev (because of course, I've met a dozen others just like him; these sorts of people are never anywhere near as creative as they think they are) trying to disguise their behavior, the result would, in my opinion, look very much like Markbassett.
If someone were asking me to weigh in on the behavioral evidence, I would have to say that I could go either way. Should a CU be run, neither result would surprise me. ᛗᛁᛟᛚᚾᛁᚱPants Tell me all about it. 20:28, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • The more I look into this the more I'm doubting my original suspicion. For one, Mikemikev appears to have been radicalized around 2009, but Markbassett began editing in 2006. There would have been no reason for sockpuppeting back then. Plus I noticed that Markbassett never punctuates "Cheers" when signing off whereas Mikemikev usually does. I'm going to chalk up this recent coincidence to chance and withdraw my suggestion above. Generalrelative (talk) 03:49, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This IP has only made a single edit, posting this charming message on my talk page: You disgusting tranny freaks should be placed in concentration camps and gassed. [237] Obviously Mikemikev is not the only person who posts such things, but when I looked up the IP location [238] I saw that it's very close to the location of Mikemikev's most recent IP sock [239] (see this archived case). One thing that's interesting about this new IP is that it's apparently a corporate internet account. I'm not sure if this information is useful in coming up with a strategy to prevent further disruption from this sockmaster, but I thought it might be worth reporting. Mikemikev has a long history of editing the Race (human categorization) article talk-page and others with accounts with "farmer" in the name such as Badger Farmer [240] Beet Farmer [241] or Redundant Farmhand [242]. The recent account RedundantFarmer edited this same article [243].

Mikemikev also has a history of impersonating far-right individuals such as Edward Dutton, Richard Lynn or Emil Kirkegaard (he sometimes spoofs their usernames), for example [244]. The recent "Emil O. W. Kirkegaard" reads as typical Mikemikev trolling, attacking other editors as being 'communists' [245]. Both the RedundantFarmer and Emil O. W. Kirkegaard accounts edited the same article talk-page within minutes of each other [246]. This is very likely to be Mikemikev creating multiple accounts on a VPN service which he has confessed to using. Psychologist Guy (talk) 17:26, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm guessing this is meat puppetry, not sockpuppetry. All it takes is a social media post with a link to send people over to Wikipedia to vandalize. The accounts are blocked, I think if a CU check is done, they'll all be the same person but I don't know if it is Mikemikev. But that might not matter. Liz Read! This account was recently created editing the Helmuth Nyborg article so I decided to look up the name on Wikipedia. In 2017 the user Mikemikev was using the name "Emil Kirkegaard" as seen here [248]. I believe this is another impersonation. According to his archive [249] "This was an attempted impersonation of User:Deleet". Off-Site both Mikemikev and Emil Kirkegaard are involved in promoting far-right material. This new account is likely impersonation from Mikemikev or an attempt at meat-puppetry. I believe the account should be blocked. Psychologist Guy (talk) 18:38, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Radfelate is not a new user, they claim to have been editing Wikipedia for 20 years [250].

Mikemikev has been evading his ban on many different accounts going back over a decade on the Race (human categorization) talk-page. A scan through the history of the talk-page [251], reveals many of his previous socks: Richard Calthrope, Bogestra Bob, Verena Boddenberg, Alan B. Samuels, Cheesecake Denier, Badger Farmer, Redundant Farmhand, Pant Wrangler, Beet Farmer, Retired Farmer, Mbutu Collins, Essentially Dave, Von Clown, David Smyth5, Rupert the Frog, Dave Davidson, Peasant in Suit, BanjoBruce I have traced these back to 2013, I could go further but you get the idea.

All of the above accounts edited the Race (human categorization) talk-page almost exclusively and hardly any other articles and make the same arguments.

I believe this account is quite obviously Mikemikev evading his block. This has been going on for many years on the same Race (human categorization) talk-page. After 6 or 7 months he is at it again on a new account. A solution might be to update the talk-page with better protection. Psychologist Guy (talk) 18:44, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is a new single-purpose account wwhich only edits within the race and intelligence CTOP. Edits have included James Flynn (academic), Charles Murray (political scientist), Dysgenics and Minnesota Transracial Adoption Study. From their first edit BronzeInc had a habit of marking substantive edits as minor.[273] [274] [275]

They will remove reliable sources that claim that a link between skin colour and IQ has been discredited as if this were an unacceptable POV bias. [276] [277]

Attempted to use Philippe Rushton as a source to justify revising Dysgenics to their preferred version. [278]

Almost all of their article-space edits have been reverted because of the obvious POV at play and, when we're dealing with a novel account pushing the Race and IQ POV I've got to start from the assumption it's Mikemikev again. Simonm223 (talk) 15:58, 26 March 2025 (UTC) Simonm223 (talk) 15:58, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Adding some additional evidence:
  • Misinterprets source data, calls source misleading (such source was providing evidence against skin-colour based biological differences in IQ) [279]
  • Personalizes a content dispute wih another editor - describes a reliable source as containing weasel words and that its findings are misleading. [280]
  • This pattern is similar to [281] where the confirmed sock personalizes a dispute derived from a misinterpretation of research data that they believe supports the idea that skin colour correlates biologically with IQ. Simonm223 (talk) 12:01, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • After reviewing the behavioral evidence, sockpuppetry is a distinct possibility but it doesn't seem conclusive enough for me to justify a block at this time. There are some behavioral quirks that I don't see in other confirmed socks I've looked at so I can't adequately rule out this user being another person who shares similar views. If the behavior itself is disruptive, that should be handled through the normal processes. no Closing without action, but a new case can be filed if there is future sock-like activity from this account.
